I have some friends that had a 3 year old daughter. We were all in their minivan together and the little girl was having a meltdown over not getting something she wanted. Her parents were trying to ignore her, but eventually acquiesced, reinforcing her tantrum behavior.

I wish this worked on my two and a half year old. When she decides to throw tantrums, which is often, we'll leave the room and do something else. Ideally she would stop after a few minutes but her record is an hour. An.hour of screaming and crying. Over nothing. It's pretty terrible.
