It looks simple, but the difference between fast and slow is the hundredths of a second range. I’m sure you can train anybody to get around a simple oval safely, but being able to do it in traffic within seconds of the leader is another thing entirely.

Is there any other vehicle on the market that’s more ‘Murican than this?

Maybe the brakes are biased so far forward that the torque applied to the rear wheels by the engine during deceleration, or simply the increased drag from all those rotating drivetrain parts, aid deceleration.

If this car drives like it looks I think I could go for one over a Focus ST. But I’m not so sure I can look past the very healthy aftermarket that follows the GTI.

Even more underrated.... those cheap $2 LED battery powered light “pucks” you can buy at Wal-Mart or Harbor Freight that have magnets and hooks built in. No need for expensive drop lights when you can shine light at any weird angle you need to with a dozen of those.

Every time this comes up, anywhere, somebody is quick to draw a line between who is allowed to complain and who is not based on their economic ability to purchase a brand new car. Every single person is more than free to complain about the lack of a manual gearbox, particularly in regards to sports cars, no matter how

It does matter. It means that I pass that overused and bullshit attack directed towards car enthusiasts who express negative emotions at manufacturers that aren’t offering their sports cars with manual transmission.

I’ve put my money where my mouth is. I want a manual clutch in a car like this.

Man.... get yourself a remote start installed.

I feel like when you start talking about -60 degrees, or even -40, you’re playing by a completely different set of rules. This morning it was about 20 degrees where in at, and 5-10 minutes just seems excessive. It gets enough time for my “pre-flight” tasks, like getting a map on the phone for traffic and routing, as

You’ve pointed out what’s so odd about the transmission choice in the 4C. Most reviewers seem to love pointing out that this car is flawed in all the best, most interesting and endearing ways. So why not give it a manual clutch in one last middle finger pointed at the magazine racer types that care more about shaving

I can see both sides of the argument here, and for me personally it seems to depend entirely on my mood in any given moment. I’ve gone on “sport tours” in my manual clutch equipped car, the type of trip where I sit down and plot out a multi-day route through a scenic area by stringing together the curviest lines I can

Check out www.japaneseclassics.com, they’ve always got clean looking imported JDM MkIII Supras available equipped with 1JZ-GTE engines for what seems like very reasonable prices.

I have no personal relationship with this company and they’re not paying me, it just seems like the way to go if you really want the best

For me: Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

For family: 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan (lease)

I don’t think you understand how differentials work. You should educate yourself by reading the Wikipedia article on the subject. Brake based limited slip systems function with the same principles as differential based limited slip, by creating resistance torque to push engine torque to the other axle.

No problem. I hope you enjoy your Mk6 as much as I have mine.

Power is not cut, the engine is still sending full torque. What happens is that the brakes are used to vector torque by exploiting an open differential’s function of flowing torque to the axle that spins with the least amount of resistance. The only power you lose is what goes up in smoke because you got greedy with

It doesn’t sound like you’ve experienced the feeling of the front wheels seemingly sucking the front of the car through the corner on throttle, which is exactly what a well done “e-diff” setup like Volkswagen’s XDS can do.

I still don’t understand the hate for FWD cars. I’ve never been in a boat of a RWD car and thought that the driven wheels in any way made the car less crappy to drive.

Hey sorry for the slow response, I don’t mind at all. For the first 100k I stuck to the factory maintenance schedule. Now I mostly stick to the schedule, but I change the oil every 5k and filter every 10k. I probably don’t need to change it every 5k but it helps me sleep at night and gives me an excuse to inspect
