That’s because of warranty. I wouldn’t want to be on the hook for re-doing a job because the customer gave me a $5 RockAuto ball joint. If I was a mechanic, I’d want to control the parts used because I’m the one stuck dealing with any return visits.

Yeah, this is a dumb article. He’s opted out of the riskiest races in the season. Indycars have less downforce and corner slower than F1, so average speeds at the same road course will be lower compared to F1. I do wonder if there are any safety benefits to using a spec chassis. They’re produced in higher numbers, so

2021, off to a good start. Unfortunately, the powers that be will never allow a national healthcare system. Imagine a world in which Americans, instead of being bound to employer insurance premiums, just pay a similar amount in federal tax to cover healthcare. No deductibles, in-network hospital but out-of-network

Are those numbers before or after the construction contractors blow the budget by 50%?

*sticks tape over the cameras/sensors and walks away*

Yup. Even the concepts end up nothing like the production model, so I don’t care about any of that.

Thanks for that. Now I need to clean spit off my laptop.

Mitsubishi Montero, known internationally as the Pajero. It is definitely an underrated Landcruiser competitor at half the price. These things are known around the world for reliability and capability. I had a deal made on one last year and was making plans to pick it up when the seller reneged on me. Ended up with a

Is a diagnostic fee on every item common too? I thought it was weird to read that she’s getting hit multiple times for hundreds of dollars for using a scan tool once. Hell, it takes less time to flat out replace that O2 sensor than it cost in labor to just diagnose it. They likely spent an hour looking at everything

I don’t understand when people say, “My time is worth more than that.” Unless you would be making the same amount or more in that same time period, it’s not. Even if you took whole week of unpaid vacation from your 100k/yr job and had to buy tools, you could still come out ahead by over $1000 instead of paying a

That’s quick and easy....if you were planning on replacing the hoses anyways.

In other words, exactly what those in power wanted; pay up a little, sacrifice a few with light sentences, back to business as usual.

You can still do a burnout with only 310 lb-ft and 4k rpm. My ‘98 civic had no problem with 1/3 of that power.

Their aging customer base is doing that for them.

I think the idea with excluding those models is for the data to portray the “average car owner”. People who own Landcruisers and Corvettes are outliers who would skew the average. A large portion of HD trucks are company owned vehicles, which are also not the average car owner.

Not a surprise at all. The Prius is a popular commuter car, whose owners put some serious miles on them with nothing but oil changes. There’s a guy I know who owns a few vehicles, but only uses his 2005 Prius to commute 80 miles round trip. It currently has about 350k on it with no major repairs yet.

This. Off road and on road diesel are different colors as well, but I bet very few people ever had their tanks checked. The off road stuff is reddish to indicate tax hasn’t been paid.

The owner tried to turn it in, but kept getting pulled over on the way. This thing is rolling probable cause.

Mercedes, where have you been all this time? You’ve been sitting on all this sweet Smart content and waited until recently to join Jalopnik?

It’s really cool to see F1 drivers funding other series. Looking forward to seeing Sainz Sr. tear it up!
