I also watched Speed Racer in the 70's as a kid. Then as an adult when it showed up late night on MTV or Cartoon Network or somewhere I watched it and could not believe how terrible it was. Definitely not a cartoon that could appeal to adults and kids. Not even nostalgia could save it.

I do still love the jammin theme

The only time in history parents stopping a child from watching a cartoon was a good thing. You got to love the idea of it and play better scenarios out with your imagination rather than seeing how bad the show was.

Alas I was 15 when the show premiered so I couldn’t even pretend it wasn’t one of the worst things ever. I wanted it to be cool, but no, it was flat out terrible.

Nice to see you around Bricken. I miss you doing recaps and reviews of all the genre tv shows.

Ya. I was wondering if I missed him dying after Gambi carried him out.

She was a great character. Now I know why she’s gone.

All I can say is that the Bill Duke show better have Bill Duke return in his wonderful role as the evil Irishman Agent Odell.

I want to hear Jon Cryer say your words as he does it, “My sudden and inevitable betrayal.”

This was an epic and awesome rant. I agree with it and love it.
You reminded me of the absurd Team Arrow grudge season. Some of the worst writing and forced conflict ever.
Lena doesn’t need to be Lex because Jon Cryer is owning it as Lex on the show.
They have ruined Lena completely and turned her into a whiny selfish

I was almost 11 and it was my introduction to betrayal and how awful the world is. Even a month shy of 11 I knew it was boring and terrible.

It did get Jefferson Starship though.

This was a worthy return for Rob Bricken.

King has to write Superman. Up in the Sky was the most pure representation of Superman I’ve ever seen. I just worry if it could last beyond a limited time.

Die by itself is amazing. Combined with Gillen’s afterwords I feel I’m getting a masters degree level course in story telling, role playing games and the creative expression. The Tolkien issue might have been the best single issue I’ve ever read and the Brontes’ issue was almost as good.

I’m well aware of that. The character is still dead to me.

Ya, shadow demons are 1985. This is just ignorant snark on the part of anyone doing it.

Correct. Ray and Firestorm always got budget short shrift and never got to use their powers effectively. Last season even Steel rarely steeled up. Guess unicorns, dragons and demons ate up the sfx budget.

She was dead to me when they replaced Laura Benanti.

How on earth will Earth-1 handle four billion refugees?

I agree. Dagger being a victim of human trafficking was done so well I found it painful to watch it was so real.

And D’Spayre was also really good.

Season 2 was an order of magnitude better than season 1.

Skews way too young. I don’t know any adults that like it. I watch it but don’t really pay attention while it’s on. And though it has improved the first episodes were very very young and the protagonist came off horribly.
