Great write up! The only thing that jumped out at me was a missing step to re-test the actuator with the 9V battery prior to putting everything back together. For those who do this type of work often that might seem like a no-brainer that doesn’t need to be spelled out, but you never know.
My first car obsession was the Shelby Cobra. I grew up in Birmingham, MI - the epicenter of the Woodward Dream Cruise. My dad and I would walk downtown to look at the cars, and I would always cause us to spend an inordinate amount of time in the row of Cobras. My dad would have to half-explain/half-apologize to each…
If it starts and runs OK, but idles poorly, my bet is on the vacuum components being off. Given that emissions mess and the inherent complexity, I imagine there’s a pretty common de-clutter for that. I would start there.
Maybe not easier, per se, but it had already been done. The tech was ready and waiting. Would the Karma have had a better chance as a purely electric vehicle? Probably, but the technology involved was’t as prolific then. I like that that’s been rectified with this new car, but when this new project is being run by the…
...Fisker told Jalopnik, it “helps when the CEO designs the car.”
Having had my E30's hood close itself on my head once, the hood shock is easy and your noggin will thank you.
The first major work I did on my E30 was changing the springs and struts, and it made a world of difference. I went with the Bilstein shock, H&R race spring combo (despite being called “race” springs they’re not all that stiff).
Instead of taking the head off the hydro-locked Jeep and putting it into Swiss Cheese, maybe you can take all the good parts from Swiss Cheese and put them in the hydro-locked Jeep? I’d love to see parts of swiss cheese live on, for all its faults you’ve gotten a lot out of it.
...the two NYPD detectives who were accused of raping a teenager in the back of a police van resigned rather rather than face trial.
(hot?) take - don’t call it the supra
Privatize the subways and you’ll see even worse cost-cutting
What happened to using your right foot to control how your car accelerates?
You’re right, context does matter. When they wrote the second amendment, they were referring to goddamn muskets, not semi-auto assault rifles that with simple, legal modifications can squeeze off 100 rounds a minute and are accurate from 400 yards away.
Next year they’ll improve the traction even more by adding a fourth wheel in the back...
tl;dr - want to get driven around? hop on a fucking bus
Want a better name? How about Gordie Howe Arena.
Man, you’re really making me miss my TR6, though it is inherently miss-able. These cars are a real joy. Like you said, it always feels like you’re going fast (when you almost never are).
Let’s be honest, leaving Darvish in was n’t surrendering the inning anymore than putting in Granderson. Frankly, I’m willing to bet Granderson would’ve struck out had he seen the exact same pitches as Darvish. The man’s defense is impeccable, but goddamn he is an awful batter.
