The CVT in a CT200h (and all other Toyota and Ford hybrids) is an entirely different kettle of fish than the horrible belt-drive Nissan (and most other makers) CVTs. Totally different and far better operational principles, but it can ONLY work in a hybrid, as it requires two electric motors to function..

Me and Pepperidge Farm remember the SE-R, that was a sweet ride in it’s day, like a poor man’s E30 M3.

My Dad bought the 2014 version of this bike about a year ago for $3600. Price is a little high for the market right now but I’d still for go for it. They’re quite fun to ride, as long as the ergonomics work for you.

This feels like a win for Nissan.
I appreciate that the CVT wasn’t bashed just because it existed. It is an easy punch, but to read “it works fine and is appropriate here” is quite refreshing.

As someone with kids, I cannot say this loud enough. But, fuck that. those things would be broken into pieces in a day, two tops.

New? BMW 4-series coupe. Yeah, the former BMW tech that hates BMW is willing to admit it. By the time I option out an Ecoboost Mustang to be as nice as the BMW, I’m within $3000 on the purchase price, and the 4-banger Mustang’s resale value is crap, the BMW has a better transmission and has a better engineered chassis…

I disagree, a bit, the main reason for the slowdown IMO, is most EV’s are expensive and they are coming to a saturation point in the market where the people that wanted one have or had one. Another issue again IMO, is their prices TANK hard on the used market, access to the Tesla network while a benefit, isn’t really…

Again, so Toyota was right about not jumping in on the EV bandwagon and sticking with Hybrids. 

It comes down to the US manufacturers bungling their EV rollout so badly that they’re trying to pump their stock prices by taking tax write-offs on their fixed cost investments.
