a terrible poster with no faces

I know more than a couple gay men who are quite content all bindered up.

Gimme a romantic comedy starring Neil Patrick Harris and Kal Penn. They’re both more likable than Billy Eichner, they’ve both proven their ability to carry projects, and the reunion aspect would at least have some “wait what the fuck” energy that could put unexpected butts in seats.

This a movie 100% aimed at the LGBTQ crowd

Almost certainly, yes. This was a pretty terrible time to release it.

Especially when it’s opening against a horror movie in the first weekend of October.

Comedies in general have been having a rough time at the box office, and romantic comedies in particular have dwindled to almost nothing in the past decade. A romantic comedy opening small against a high-concept horror movie in the first weekend of October in 2022 shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

Yeah, all I know about Bros is:

I think it’s also fair to point out that there’s actually plenty of gay rom-coms. This might be the first wide release one from a major studio, but people with active interest in the genre haven’t really been starved for them.

Even on the technical side it’s not nearly as influential as Attack of the Clones wound up being, and that still gets ironically quoted.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I think Bautista is fantastic. To me this isn’t about choosing between them because I see no reason to. They’re both charming, intelligent people who are surprisingly good actors and generally seem to be doing their best to make the world better in their own ways.

I honestly feel like a good amount of progress has been made on that front. There’s still a long way to go, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the last time Queer as Folk was relevant.

I’ve long maintained that bottled water tastes the same and some people are way too goddamn precious about it.

Eh, I’ll take an orchestrated and controlled dude who by all accounts is a pleasure to interact with both personally and professionally and spends a great deal of his time trying to brighten the days of sick children over a whole lot of the alternatives. He may not be a saint and he ain’t gonna lead any revolutions,

If Harry Styles is putting on a dress that he actually dislikes because he thinks it makes him more popular with his core demographic or keeps him in the headlines

As I’ve said, I absolutely think there’s reasonable dialog to be had about queer acceptance in both popular culture and among the general populace, especially with regard to non-gender-conforming clothing.

Agreed so long as it’s not a calculated move to make him more money by appropriating queer culture.

This is the one and only time I think that could legitimately be an improvement.

Let’s just say this:

Agreed, thank you as well. :)
