Sorry pal, I don’t keep an ‘enemies’ list.

If we had a intolerance of physical harm—SPORTS, BOXING, MMA—then we’d be crawling everywhere on pillows. Please, spare me the “America is the greatest” mentality, as well as all your appeals.

I wasn’t actually referring to dumbass mccake-baker, who isn’t really threatening but is, in fact, merely stupid, but instead of the violent ideologues who use the exact same arguments as him to create and organize hate groups around the country. Those people will gladly use his ‘victory’ as evidence of their

Also, I doubt very much that you are “on to me.”

“There are too many on the left who...”

I take the same approach to life. Yes, in my kitchen are grease stains, dirty dishes, swarms of ants, spoiled food, stagnant water and a floor sticky with spilled soda. But *underneath* it all is a perfectly clean and respectful kitchen, so why should I clean it? Meritocracy will allow the cleanliness to rise to the

This falls under the ‘sorry I got caught’ apology category.

I’m usually fine with that when I first experience the medium. I love Megadeth’s work, but I don’t think Dave Mustaine and I would get along that great (we’d find talking points, no doubt!). However, when I haven’t experienced the story, but get a warning that the creator originally talked about putting in story

It does look beautiful, it’s a story-driven game, and if the story is informed by this kind of bullshit, then that’s a legitimate concern.

My concern is the “Socialist/Progressive Dystopia” the game describes as it’s setting. It looks like a caricature of a future that no one actually wants perpetrated by people who wouldn’t have the power to institute it.

*SIGH* I was hoping I wouldn’t have to describe the difference between what constitutes “protected” speech and what doesn’t, but I feel like the SCOTUS legal definition differentiating between “fuck the draft” and yelling “fire” in a crowded theater applies here. Freedom of speech is in no way a say-what-you-want

Yeah, this definitely makes me less enthusiastic about the game and means I’ll wait to read up on if the narrative is some douchebags take on liberals.

“Several years” meaning less than a few years ago and said about the very game that’s the subject of the controversy. This wasn’t a 40-year-old dude regretting something he said about politics as a dumbass college student.

The game can look rad as hell, but if the narrative is an anti-feminist version of “Well from my point of view the Jedi are evil.” I wouldn’t touch it with 100' pole.

What do you mean? They clearly feel very bad about the “poor wording” of his statements and that there is a “caricature” of him being spread around by his own words.
Totally sincere.

People seem to have a hard time understanding this simple concept.

I’m always willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I, personally went from “internet libertarian” to “progressive feminist” over the course of a very few years thanks to some really excellent friends and learning experiences that challenged me to recognize my more problematic opinions. It can and does happen, and

Is anyone wanting the government to file charges against this guy for what he said? It doesn’t seem like it. So how does this go against free speech in any way? “Freedom of speech” does not mean “freedom from consequences for what you say.”

That’s not it. You can say what you want. That doesn’t mean it won’t have consequences. Free speech is about the Government suppressing speech. Not shielding each other from consequences of saying stupid things. It depresses me I have to type this to someone (for like, the 11th time)

Free speech is freedom from government oppression. It is NOT freedom from consequences from the public. If you want to be a bigot verbally (not particularly the case here), you won’t be thrown in jail by the government. You will be condemned by everyone though.
