So yeah, it’s not “well past time to rethink auteur theory”. Auteur theory is being rethought, and has been for years.

While I agree with the content of the article, I take objection with the way you frame the discussion about auteur theory as something that has never been had before.

I mean, this is Luke before the Last Jedi. He’s not committing to a path of violence and destruction, he’s using the lightsaber to save other people. The lightsaber by itself is not inherently evil. When Luke threw away the lightsaber in ROTJ, that was more rejecting the dark side and Palpatine, and that more violence

You’d think Luke would be pretty fucking famous for his role in destroying the first Death Star and defeating the friggin’ Emperor.

OK. Don’t forget to turn in your badge at reception.

Goodbye.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the best film of the Disney era”

Not gonna lie, totally disagree on Luke. When they said “a lone X-Wing” my wife and I were trying really hard not to get our hopes up... but then green lightsaber, one black glove... and we started tearing up. And then again when R2 showed up.

She’s not dead, she’s resting!

You can’t spoil reality.

I might be wrong, but I always thought spoilers old enough to drink were fair game.

So 1Gb worth of data on a: SSD, hard-drive, memory stick, CDrom, and tape walk into a bar and sit down for 25 years of diurnal temperature fluctuations.

I did the same job in the early 2000s. Not a bad job for a dumb college kid

One of my first “computer” jobs was tape librarian for an oil company.

And there’s not really a point to compare tape drives to hard drives in this context, because tape drives are already the preferred format for this sort of storage. The headline makes it seem like tape drives are going to start out performing hard drives in an application in which that is not currently the case.

Also, speed of pulling data ‘live’ from tape is being removed and for data TOO a tape drive, in the right setup, its much faster than a spinning disk, though still slower than SSD.

That title is reeeeeeally dumb.

If you’re not a paying member you wouldn’t have an account with them.

The announcement makes it seem like these are subscriptions that will be canceled, not inactive, non-paying account data.

I’m sorry what? There is no “free” Netflix subscription that lasts years. These are absolutely paid subscriptions.
