Repugnant seems about right. Living and growing up in Mexico, a deeply unequal and racist country, a revolution like the one seen here always seems inevitable. Mexico has experienced almost a decade and a half of increasing militarization. The supposed future of Mexico here seems scary, but the surprising thing is,

I want to see it so bad. Cuarón is a master. My mom grew up in the Roma district around the same time the film takes place, and every still and image I see from it looks straight out of my family’s photo album. I can’t wait to go with my mom to the theatre to see it. I’m expecting us both to be very affected by it.

Saw Age of Ultron again. I guess it was fine. Three years and one Infinity War later, that scene with Thor in the cave we all thought was useless then, still is now.

Oh my god, that is definitely Chekhov’s pill, isn’t it? I don’t like speculating, but there is no way the both of them are coming out of this alive.

Until Infinity War, I had never realized how much emotional investment I had on the Marvel characters. Most of the emotional moments of the movie hit me pretty hard. It really did solidify my opinion that character development is one of the things that Marvel does best.

Not released in the 21st century, but in 2000, Built to Spill’s live album is one of the best I’ve heard. Broken Chairs and their cover of Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer are monsters live.

The first season started off interesting but kind of lost me toward the end. So I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the second season. I thought the “Shrooms” episode was one of the best of last year. I am cautiously excited to see how they wrap things up.

Here in Mexico, it premiered like almost a month ago. Everyone I know has seen it and me having not seen it makes me feel like I’m betraying my country. I hope to make some time this weekend to finally catch it and from the word of mouth of just friends and family, I’m expecting to be deeply affected by it.

Saw them in a warehouse in Mexico City about three years ago (they were pretty great, but the lights went out during the middle of their set) Fell out of the loop on their stuff in the interim, but I’ll definitely give this a listen

They also mention the San Bernardino shooting, which happened in late 2015. I've stopped trying to make sense of this show's timeline.

I don't know if there was a general international re-release or something, but this weekend the theater a block from my house played Ghost in the Shell (the 1995 original anime). As expected, the animation looks incredible in the big screen, even though the horrendous English dub took away from the experience.

I was a freshman in High school when this got released, and as a recent convert to film loving by movies like Fight Club and Amelie, I absolutely adored this movie. It was hard not to identify with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character at a time I religiously listened to Bright Eyes.

The Lego Batman Movie was awesome. It was so refreshing to watch a silly, funny and self-conscious Batman film after years of overly-serious takes. Also, so glad there wasn't the seemingly requisite scene of Bruce Wayne's parents dying.

In the 21st century, indie Mexican cinema tends to divert to either violent depictions of poverty-stricken inner cities or stories on crossing the border to the US. Amores Perros is the definitive movie of the former, while Sin Nombre is the best one of the latter.

Japandroids on this sounds more Replacements than ever (with a dash of Born in the USA Springsteen). I think the acoustic guitars and synths were an expected addition to their songs and in my opinion accentuate their arena-rock feel. The ballads in this make for a good contrast with the rawer takes here. Celebration

Peña is completely worthless, and I don't think this will effect much as he has spent years dragging himself and his own party through the mud. However IMHO, I don't think now is the time to think about next year's election, because as much as I disagree with him and the PRI domestically, Mexico's gotta be united

We had one in my college for our Mexican Independence Day party. It certainly was cathartic.

As a Mexican here in Mexico City, I think this is a good idea even though I don't think I'll be in the audience as I don't like Conan too much (it would also be great for Conan on a ratings level if it airs here in Mexico as I think he is the most popular talk show host here after James Corden).

Ringo cried.

I really liked the storyline, because I found it really unusual for a Bond movie. Instead of rehashing the same Cold War-esque formula over and over again like it had been done for 40 years, Skyfall actually felt like a 21st century spy movie and was a blast of fresh air for the franchise. In the greater scheme of
