This is a REAL lame attempt of a joke. Too far to go trying to land it.

Conversations about the use of ethnic slurs and their reclamation of same should be left to the demographic in question. I am Black Afro-Caribbean, and I am not a fan of the n-word, but I like it even less when people who don’t have the stripes of the tribe insert themselves into the community dialogue. N
There was a Justice League International member called Ice pre-52. That might be her.
Seriously? That’s your takeaway?
Title canon states that Luke’s powers evolve under stress and through constant use. In his early days, Luke’s strength was formidable, but in the present day, he can take on the Thing or Colossus.
It’s possible that if you beat down on Luke Cage enough, he’ll literally toughen up and recover, like he did at the end…
I just read the Iceman-Apocalypse seed run....Darkstar didn’t even show as one of the exes. :P
I mean, seriously? The one that stands out is Darkstar, and she was too Russian-Angst girl to matter. Oh, and Polaris, but that went nowhere fast. Come to think of it, Bobby always kept going for the unavailable women.
You’re welcome. I know the minefields white allies are navigating these days. There’s no guarantee someone else wouldn’t have taken offense to you sharing a slice of your experience on the periphery, so I felt it was necessary to let *you* know directly how it affected me. If other people have a problem with my own…
That’s weird, but also awesome. Kind of made my day. Really appreciate you sharing that.
“YOU GUISE. What if his eyepieces are actually Force crystals that are polished into transparency!!!!1!1!”
You know how it is. Have to work twice as hard to get the respect deserved, and all that.
C’mon. If you’ve got the Barrymores, the Brolins, the Sheens, the Douglases, the Coppolas, the Voights, etc., why the specific hate on the Smiths? I mean, kid actors are not necessarily *great* actors anyway.
Appreciated.
Exhausting, really, but it’s not like I’m all alone in taking a stance on it all.
I can try.
When you have to deal with white gay men cosplaying as sassy black women as often as I do, you learn to be careful about what you may be encouraging in social groups without realizing you’re doing so.
It would be equated to abortive attempts to normalize such language in social environments. To make the point, “n-word” jokes *could* be added for flavor if you were cosplaying as a Confederate soldier, but it would be considered noxious at best.
I’m a fan of the mantle of Captain America being anyone who lives up to what that represents through whichever cultural filter is appropriate.
Steve Rogers passing the mantle to Sam Wilson in the comics might have been more readily accepted by the Marvel fans at large if it didn’t feel like Steve handed the shield over…
Evan, it’s also important for you to know this:
There was a plot in the early 00's that centered around Ragnarok, Surtur’s sword, and all of the Asgardians banished to Earth in mortal identities during a temporary resurgence of Journey Into Mystery. They might be lifting off that run.
