I agree, I think Smith could have had a decent career as a screenwriter. Zack & Miri for instance was a fairly amusing, potentially good movie that was hamstrung by his limitations as a director and inability to rein in his self-indulgent tendencies.

Oddly, this is also a supercut of things that made me unhappy in the 90s!

Yeah! Because the one thing I haven't gotten tired of yet at all is interminable battle scenes with computer generated armies of space orcs!

Cue "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet"

Look, to be fair

True enough I suppose, although I wasn't thinking of flavored vodka here because come on!

WHY

I loved the mood and aesthetic of MoS and BvS, and thought the overall approach and ideas were interesting. It's just that Snyder can't seem to make a movie that feels remotely human.

Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the Bat around the corner.

Aesthetically, though, I would say that the world of Unbreakable feels much more open and natural than Batman, which has that artificial, claustrophobic feel of a movie shot on a soundstage.

Just to defend vodka a little bit, I think it gets a bad rap because it's almost always served either freezing cold or in a mixed drink. The only way to really taste the subtle flavors is to drink it neat. I've had some very pleasant wheat/rye vodkas.

That's good!

Yay!

But probably not as butt-hurt as if Jack in the Box did still do their eggnog shakes!

Trump is no Pale Man — for one thing, his eyes wouldn't fit on those stubby little baby hands!

It's getting worse all the time!

I enjoyed them! It was the only place I could reliably find answers to dumb questions I had about a movie, like what was happening in a confusing scene. Or just following some insane argument about the meaning of a film's ending that would go on for YEARS.

I don't know why, but I have an IMDb listing for this 3 minute short film I made in the 80s for a class. I like to look myself up sometimes for the (bittersweet) thrill of seeing "Director" under my name.

I got a lot of great movie recommendations on boards for the more cultish movies!
