*high fives*

The same sort of thing happened to me. I built mine in December 2009 with an i7 920 and all told I spent about 2000 with about 300-500 for upgrades over time. I went a bit too crazy ^_^ Next time I'm going to try and not spend as much but I hope that's still a long way off. Everything is running as it should and I

i366 ftw! I'm still using my original i7 920 on an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 also.

Awesome pc! It makes me feel a bit better about spending $2000 building mine initially and then spending at least another 300-500 on upgrades :P Thankfully I've also been running this desktop since December 2009 (which is an excuse I make for spending so much).

Nice. I have to unscrew my front panel to clean it on the HAF 922. :P

Interesting. I currently have the HAF 922 and I still get massive amounts of dust. How easy are the filters to get to? I have to clean pretty often and if it was easy to manage I might have to go for that case on my next build since the 922 is a little bothersome to clean.

Nice skeletool you have there too. I love mine. As for mice, my Logitech G700 has been serving me well. :)

Yeah, I've been considering the Antec case or maybe even the BitFenix case for my next build. I still have a bit of time before I need to upgrade to decide but I want to move to a desktop with a smaller footprint than my current one. It'll make it easier to move in and out of my dorm and I'll be able to set up my

I don't see where the 650 degrees C came from. On the original Popular Science article, there is no mention of 650 at all (as far as I can see). Chuck Andraka almost certainly did not mention that temperature.

I remember reading that article. While the FI-01W is hard to find since it's not sold in the states (and the US equivalent is the Winsis' WI-10; also hard to find) Tom's does say that the Winsis' WI-02 (which they say is internally the same to the WI-10) it isn't that hard to find.

Not at all, I window shop for pc parts all the time for fun even though I have a great system right now. :)

That's true, I just don't really like the idea of mixing cards, in part because of the faster card will be throttled to the slower card (in that case, how would picking the faster card as my main display output matter?). As I only have one monitor right now I would have to choose between a crossfire configuration

I'm still happy with my 5850 especially considering I'm only using a 1680 x 1050 monitor (at the time I had a big debate about going for the 5870 or not, lol). If I had more time to play games I might bite the bullet but for now it's just the waiting game. I'm also ready to give Nvidea a shot but really I'll just pick

I decided to go for a single card when I first built my desktop back in 2009; a Sapphire 5850 HD. Now, I have considered getting a second one to crossfire but I can't find the same model anywhere and though I could crossfire with another version of the 5850, I would rather not risk issues between slightly different

I did this when I added a 240gb ssd over the summer (I used directory links http://www.cpcff.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21297). I don't feel like I have that many games but they still take up 100 gb and I wasn't going to use almost half of my new ssd for them. It was also nice since I didn't have to download all

While that is true, in the case of my computers both were relatively new installs (because of hardware upgrades) though Windows 7 was a bit older, perhaps 6 months at most, but without excessive installed software (and Windows 7 was on my much more powerful desktop), while in the case of my friend, the comparison was

I don't know how much faster it actually is for programs but the speed perception it gives in booting is faster. My desktop has Windows 7 and a 240 gb ssd and my laptop has Windows 8 with a 128 gb ssd and it boots in about half the time. I've also gotten used to using the home-key and searching for programs in Windows

Here is my main daily carry in order of importance. I always have the Leatherman Skeletool and Zebra pen clipped inside my right pants pocket. My phone (whichever random one I have at the time) and college id in my right sweater/hoodie/fleece pocket and a lens cloth in my left. My usb sticks and more pens occupy the

Wow! Does the gauge actually show temperature and do you use the switches for lights or anything? Regardless it looks amazing, especially with the display area on top.

Cool! It always makes me feel good to know that other people picked the same hardware. I was always a bit hesitant about how good my choices were for my first build. :) I personally would just love to find a second 5850 on the cheap to crossfire but no such luck so far.
