Entitled to your opinion, I guess. I have friends who work at Hi Rez and I did some playtesting, and I wanted really hard to give it a go. Found the whole thing sort of floaty and without any of the crunchy detail - got really sick of it when the novelty ran out. Conversely, I’ve played Dota for over 10 years and

We can’t all be happy slapping down $60 for a 6 hour Theme Park FPS with a super deep story hatched from that time Ken Levine had to write a book report on Atlas Shrugged but got high instead.

Have you ever done anything in any game or endeavor with other people where you were challenged to complete a task or were trying hard to pull something off? Like maybe you guys were building a model of the Titanic out of toothpicks, I dunno, anything. And it was cool, and you were like ‘yeah, we did it, guys.’

I mean, maybe it’s just your taste, but I’m also going to go out on a limb and say, smite is also a pretty bad game :/

I mean, this should be the least of your White House worries right now

Really not necessary for you to be telling this to me.

I mean, if you want. But I’m pretty tired of people shitting on the genre, or the games in them, while people are simultaneously talking about Doom or Battlefield 1 as GotY 2016.

I’ve played DotA for over a decade and I still have never played the same game twice, and I still learn new things and get better, meet new people, etc. Not sure what the problem is? Should I be dropping $60 for a theme park shooter wanking off about Ayn Rand that I finish in a few hours instead?

This is a far rosier view than I would give. There is a totally justified current of antipathy toward Japan. And a lot of it comes from Japan’s reluctance to face up to what it did - part of the reason Germany enjoys good relations with former enemies is the nation’s willingness to soberly state it’s culpability in

I mean... “Korea hates Japan” is a three word phrase that tries to capture an enormous chunk of history and humanity.

Yeah, they need to get rid of those outdated stereotypes and catch up to the modern image of gamers like Gamergate posters and guys who lose their shit about first amendment rights when a company removes panty shots of 8 year olds from their jrpgs. It’s a much more refined bunch of electronic entertainment enthusiasts

They’re allowed to - we’re also allowed to tell them it’s dumb and actually makes their creations lesser.

Really a welcome addition. Anyone who can put in work on these sorts of topics is appreciated. I got tired of trying a long time ago.

I mean, when I watch Citizen Kane, it’s tediously paced and the acting is stiff, the dialogue is pat, etc. It is not a fun and joyful watch. I can still recognize what makes it great though.

It’s absolutely a recent change in opinion though, like within the last few years. The game came out in 2001 and I’d say for over a decade, it was largely discounted and mocked and used as a mark *against* Kojima.

I mean, if you want to ignore the rest of my point, sure.

MGS3 was fantastic, and while I realize I’m in a minority, I thought MGS2 was a marvel as well. MGSV, gameplay wise, is also great - even with it’s (massive amounts of) missing pieces, it was still one of the best games of the year - the thing it got slammed for was not living up to it’s potential.

how are the two anything alike

What is ‘undeniably better’ because I can easily get hours and hours more play and enjoyment out of a game like Overwatch than I might be able to out of Doom (lol).
