It's enough to make a person sick—but please, do -not- let that dissuade you. We -need- History faculty, badly. If we forget our past, we have a strong tendency to repeat it—and in repetition, we fail to move on.

Well, I'm not as "fresh" as I may have come across. I graduated high school in 1999, but apparently my issue with this teacher's methods is still far from gone.

I would have said that about anyone who forces children into that anxious situation without being compassionate enough to realize it was an anxious situation. #notallEnglishteachers

Seeing as how I received A's in all of my English courses throughout college (as well as Speech/Communications), I have to say this is not a reflection upon him being an English teacher but rather for being a huge dick.

I wish someone would send this to my high school English teacher. We had to stand up in front of the class, speak on some topic (can't remember what) and if we said any fillers, (i.e. ummm, uhh, like) he would ding this fucking bell. I hated that bell. Like... hated.

Exactly. I get the coping part... I think we've all gone through some horrific ordeals, but the part where you essentially BLAME the person that did this to you AND love them unconditionally at the same time is what makes me go, "BWUH?!"

Pretty sure there are ways to overcome tragedy without, essentially, forcing what happened to you to be a life lesson from someone who is supposed to care for you. I've done it, and I bet hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of other people have as well.

That's a possibility, but I have to disagree at people being able to draw the line at something like this. Believers have murdered their own children in the name of a deity - the point is, there ISN'T a line. It's all or nothing.
