FFIV (II in the U.S.) is a great one to start with. Not as good as 6, 7, 8, or 10, but not as generic as the ones before. IV will give the newcomer a great story and characters to care about, while letting them build into the better games of the series, VI being the best!

While true about the games, you have to remember that Nintendo has never sold their systems for a loss.  Sony, Xbox, and the Valve with their Steam Deck all sell their systems for a loss so that consumers buy the games for their respective systems.  If Nintendo would port their games to PC, they now lose system…

No one’s buying a PS5 for Ratchet and Clank, and Aloy.  I would argue this is why Sony ported to PC; to boost sales of their 1st party IP.  Would I also love for Nintendo to have their game on PC?  Oh, yes!  I’ve played Breath of the Wild on an emulator running at 4K with ray tracing.  It’s magical!  MAGICAL!

Pokemon sword and shield has sold 26 million copies and Scarlet and Violet sold over 23 million.  For Nintendo, the system sells the games and the games sell the system.  It’s a symbiotic relationship for them.
