Believe it was about 2012ish for us (outside of some specific heavy haul applications)....

We actually had collision avoidance systems in our units BEFORE it was commonplace in the passenger car segment.

No problem. A lot of drivers still complain about them and they aren’t great in all applications but trucking companies have figured out what all car makers (and even the exotic makers) have known for awhile: a human can’t/won’t shift as well as a computer.

Can’t wait for the next “So the city came about my Jeeps again” article!

There actually are a lot of automatic/automated systems out there.  Has been for a number of years.

FYI, the report of $14k a week referenced is very misleading. This is NOT for drivers. This company employs IC’s who provide their own tractor (and sometimes even their own trailer depending on the company). Even at that the $14k a week is likely a stretch and very manipulated (ie: including fuel

Here’s a slideshow of my favorite colors:

Me: Wow was that whole Rich Energy funding deal a crazy scenario. Haas’ sponsorship status can’t get any stranger, can it?

Anyone else look at this and see ‘What if a Toyota and a BMW had a baby?’ styling-wise?

I think Hyundai has a naming problem. I saw the headline and kept expecting to see the bed of a small pickup but nope. Crossover. Which got me thinking, “Wait.....what is the name of the pickup? Santa Fe? Isn’t it Tucson?”

I’ll have my Pizza Eating Contest cards at the ready, just in case.....

Chicken Caesar Burrito from Taco Bell.  Don’t judge me.  I crushed countless during the summer of 2003.

Ha!  Forgot it was the cooking one!  David, you are a treasure.  Please don’t burn, electrocute or otherwise end your life (like trying to drive an FC across country that is falling apart).

Nah, just trying to perfect the ECE....External Combustion Engine.

Just feel the need to clarify that the above shorted battery reference was to a previous adventure of David’s. Can’t seem to remember which one.....

So on a scale of 0 to “Tried to weld my hand to a wire I just shorted across the battery terminals”, where do you rate this mistake?

On the bike thing....as a cyclist the bed size means nothing to me (bros with their tailgate rugs may disagree). The important thing to me is ROOFRAILS ON A NOT OVERLY TALL PICKUP!!!

Sooooo.....does the concept of towing with warped rotors get scary when you get to Seattle or does it wait until you finally give up the even more insane idea of driving the FC back?

Once upon a time on Jalopnik, the answer was always Miata. Seems now that David Tracy has overtaken Miata. ‘Something something David Tracy’ is always the answer.

Came here to make Patrick joke, only to find it is already in good hands....
