He really does seem like someone you’d want to hang out with.

I remember really liking All-American Girl, but to be fair, I was 10 and not very discerning of quality. I don’t remember him being on it though!
No human could stack books like this.
Aww, Beyond flopped? I liked that one. It was the most Star Trekky of the three.
As a sad, broken person in my old age, I kind of appreciated that aspect of it!
I still reference this article from time to time, it’s a tossup between that one and this one for my favorite: https://www.theonion.com/everything-taking-too-long-1819570632
Why didn’t the Romulans just evacuate? Supernovas probably have a lot of warning time--and the Romulan empire is huge. Star Trek nerds are gonna notice this shit.

After reading the terrible reviews for RoS, I got super baked before I watched it for the first time so that hopefully I could just enjoy the effects and I still hated it. The highlight was the big belly laugh I got when all of a sudden there were people riding horses outside a spaceship, just chillin’ in the hard…
The new characters all had so much potential. I still feel bitter that they never really capitalized on that.
I had kind of the same experience with TLJ. Walked out of the theater very pleased and realized upon reflection that I didn’t like about 50% of it (really liked where Rey, Kylo and Luke’s arcs went, didn’t like the seemingly silly storylines they stuck Finn and Poe in).
For me, the biggest disappointment of the new trilogy was not how they handled the old characters, but the new ones. Rey, Finn and Poe all seemed so interesting and had a really fun dynamic (especially Finn—imagine if they had gone somewhere with the idea of a turncoat stormtrooper). I still feel bitter that these…
I enjoyed the Neo v Smiths fight just for how ridiculous it was.
It ain’t worth it. My spouse forced me to watch it under duress, I agreed with the caveat that I was going to get super baked first and just try to enjoy the special effects, and I was STILL bored. The only bright spot was near the end when SPOILERS I GUESS WHO CARES some random ass people are riding horses on the outs…
I remember really enjoying the pure schlock of the Neo vs. Smiths fight but my guess is that the CGI does NOT hold up.
That ain’t canon! Right? I don’t really follow this stuff closely.
Back when the AV Club did Star Trek reviews, there would almost always be at least one thread that devolved into discussing holodeck cleanup.
Yeah, I’d say that’s because it isn’t really true. It’s not great, usually you want to be making upward or at least lateral moves, but saying that the degree is worthless is reaching.
I hear you on this in general, but as a fellow woman in academia, I also find Bialik off-putting, and faux intellectualism was actually the first descriptor to come to mind. Not because she’s a woman, but because she feels the need to flex her credentials all the time like some insecure post-doc right out of school.…
Dang, sorry to see this column go. I’ve really enjoyed it.
