I’d say, if you’re focusing on length of play (to last 2 weeks+), Persona 5 Royal wins by a wide margin. No matter what mini-games and side activities FFVII Remake could potentially possess, Persona 5 Royal will have exponentially more to do, for good and for bad (as it wears on a bit near the end of its run time).

This week in gaming was dominated by Tabletop games, to the point that I didn’t play any video games (aside form good old WordScapes on my phone while pooping).

The scariest thing about World of Horror is the bottomless pit of menus. JRPGs are so menu-heavy that I can’t even start to get immersed.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I suspect I’d be in the 40 hours range.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips! Definitely enjoying the game so far. It’s more complex than I anticipated so I appreciate the advice.

Last time I checked on, I mentioned having started Nioh and actually progressing in it. And I continued to do that, until I beat the game! Definitely one of the more satisfying ends to a game I’ve had. Not in terms of story and arc (cause let’s face it, that part was pretty bland) but having conquered all the bosses,

“Ooooo, new layout reminiscent of the old AV Club!! Cool! Where’s the Games section? Where’s... where’s the Games section? Ruh roh...”

Glad you’re having a blast with Baldur’s Gate II. It’s a real classic.

I’ll be continuing my long-delayed first playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 2 this weekend. It’s a little strange in that it’s hard for me actually decide to start playing, but once I do, I can’t put it down. Every sidequest I’ve encountered so far is more than a mere extra box to check, and they seem to actually expand my

When I’d finished The Outer Worlds a few weeks ago, I kept thinking of how much it missed the sense of wandering around, stumbling across cool shit that I remembered from Fallout: New Vegas, and eventually I made the obvious decision to go back and replay that game, which I hadn’t touched for years. I’m about 6 hours

When I hear someone express their rapturous appreciation for grappling hooks and double jumps, I can only shake my head in sadness. I appreciate them as anxiety relieving tools, and little more, because my in-game fear of heights means that platforming in general is pure misery, and is only slightly mitigated by the

Now playing

I bet once they get around to a game focusing on the Saga of Yamcha, then the franchise will have reached the appropriate stopping point.

Ive been in this boat for at least 15 years. I've had more success in their modern equivalents: finished Torment Tides of Numenera in a weekend, where I've never gotten out of the tower you start in in Planescape.

On replay, I was truly delighted to find the Mass Effect trilogy still holds up. (well, not the driving parts and planet scanning). ME3 in particular has actually gotten more impressive for me over time.

That comment about liking the idea of CRPGs more than playing them is so on point for me. I have tried Baldur’s Gate a couple of times, and also tried Fallout, Fallout 2, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, and Wasteland 2. The only one I finished, weirdly, was the original Fallout, which I loved. Every other

One big piece of advice for Baldur’s Gate: turn on cheats. Then you can use Ctrl-J to jump to wherever the cursor is which evens out how slow movement can be. More importantly it’s nice to be able to jump to whichever part of town you need to be in.

Obligatory mention from me:
