I use a mixture of Amazon MP3, Google Music, and banshee on Ubuntu (Yay, Lifehacker! Still ignoring Linux users like champs!). None of this works like iTunes. I never feel like cutting myself after I am finished syncing like I was with iTunes. I am sure I could recreate the experience, though.
