What. First of all: fantasy and fictional games. But if we want to be "realistic" about military games, one in every 6 or 7 characters should be a woman, for US militaries. Secondly:

You're not welcome in either with that attitude.

I have definitely read other Jezebel articles about fat shaming where they've said BMI is no indication of healthy weight, yet they have no problem using BMI to imply that this woman is actually too thin.

GodDAMN I love this aesthetic. I don't care if it's old or overdone or whatever. I love the 'mostly black and white with some intense colour accent' thing.

Well then you should avoid the bizarro world of Jezebel where fat white middle-class American women are considered a horribly oppressed class.

Thank you for saying the exact thing I was thinking. Shit, this site is ridiculous. You can't be attractive or in-shape without apologizing for it and then you have the $10K Lena Dunham thing…because of course if you're "average" and trying to look your best for a NATIONALLY CIRCULATED MAGAZINE…you should be ashamed.

Only if you're fat.

Jez and the Daily Mail use the exact same clickbait tactics (i.e. harshly critiquing women's bodies to enrage the readership) so that's not surprising.

The entire article left a bad taste in my mouth, and that's just putting it nicely.

Good lord is this article horrifying. HORRIFYING.

Yeah, me too. I can't quit because I get a lot of the news I am looking for and haven't found a more comprehensive site for my interests, but there's... strategies... that I have noticed too, and I do not like. Outrage, scandal, clicks, advertising. But I guess we take the bad with the good. Sigh.

Are you SERIOUS? What the FUCK, Jezebel.

I thought we weren't supposed to pay attention to BMI, Jezebel?

Just going to echo a few of the comments here:

Yo Jezebel, EVERY BODY IS NORMAL. Miss Indiana is normal, Oprah Winfrey is normal, Hunny Boo Boo is normal, Heidi Klum is normal. Miss Indiana is not what statistically average woman as determined by the center of disease control. But she is NORMAL.

yes, some women have narrow hips. What's your point?

Yes, make her body the body of someone who is freakish and outside of the norm. That's exactly how you encourage women to accept their body and love their body...by pointing out how much of a freak you are if you're not 5' 3", 166.2 lbs with a 37.5 waist and a 12-14 dress size!

Mekayla Diehl's body is normal. It isn't the average American woman's body, but it is absolutely normal. Her body is not abnormal or unusual.

Do people really expect beauty pageants to reflect "average"?
