I had one a week ago to get through a particularly bad caffeine withdrawal headache. If you pour the soda first, it works better, unless you want a really good prop Guiness, because that head doesn’t go anywhere.

I still occasionally drink a concoction a late friend of mine came up with. You pour about a standard diner mug of black coffee into a glass with a Dr. Pepper, no ice. It’s black, tastes bitter and burnt, and not for everyone, but sometimes it is exactly what I want/need.
Yeah, I wanted it to be a much longer bit.
My HS English teacher waited until the last day or two of class every year and showed us a tape of when he and his roommate were on Supermarket Sweep. They were on of the few male-male pairings, had agreed not to lie, and then his roommate lies about being a racecar driver and the rest of their banter is just riffing…
“Landlside” not “Tusk?”
1. We use a Wonderbag when it’s too hot. You still cook, but instead of holding say, a pot of chili on the stove for an hour, you get it to the temp you want and then put it in a heavily-insulated bag and turn off the stove.
2. Has anyone any experience with trying tomatillos for gazpacho? I was curious if it would…
We watched the last (hopefully) Die Hard in the theater and I was a McClain fan in the first 3, less so in the 4th, but 5 was awful. Mainly for the car chase where they laid waste to a busy highway, where I’m sure all the civilian drivers were in death-proof stunt-cars. And being all quippy and not at all concerned…
Pimento, yeah. I mean he’s probably socially liberal and woke, but definitely too crazy to be a “good one.”
Yeah it seems innocuous, but that’s the problem, right? My thing about that is the “best kill” being a focal point, not just fastest time. Because then we go from the violence being a grim necessity and last resort to a fun opportunity to show off, which isn’t what we want in our police. It’s not terrible, hell it…
They have a few places where they really glorify the violence. It’s usually training scenarios, competitions over “best kill,” etc. A lot of wanting Die Hard style violence/doing something cool with guns. But it’s not rampant, which is a big difference, again, between it and The Rookie. Think about the 7 seasons of…
“Move away from their love of militarization.” Especially this one, for when they get all hyped up and kitted out for a raid, “Oh wait, I’m part of the problem.” It would be a perfect, moment in line with all of Jake’s other “America is broken” realizations. Not just move away from the stuff they should get defunded…
He says something when he dismisses his class about reading more of the works of Preston, someone else, and Logan.
But did you catch that he taught a course that had Bill and Ted as authors to study?
I’m currently halfway through season 10 on my first full run-through. I thought they got a bit cruel towards Diane towards the final season of her run, but it was still great for a sitcom. I was floored by how well (i thought) Rebecca Howe was introduced. She sure came in swinging, and it took a while for the cracks…
I used to make “campfire tea” at a rehab for teens I worked at. They would all start sniffing the air and asking “is something on fire?” So we’d get up, look around, and I’d go, “ohhh, wait, that’s just what my tea smells like.” I like the smell of the campfire and the taste as well. It’s my everyday tea, if i’m…
Aimee wins my vote. Though a chipwich is great. My honeymoon was in the Bay Area and we stumbled upon a Chipwich place in Berkeley called CREAM. Cookies Rule Everything Around Me that just had hot fresh cookies rolling out for the line of customers to select from. It was a cool concept.
I honestly don’t get the love people have for Dredd. It’s just an American version of The Raid: Redemption with weird slo-mo effects, psychic sexual assault, and pretty uninspired action. Any action movie that has action scenes of stand more or less in place and shoot at your enemy shouldn’t have been made after John…
I “made” this tonight for dinner. I added a full tub of 5% yogurt instead of the couple of Tbsp you called for. After 45 minutes or so on the grill, the breasts were still mostly rare, so Plan B. I had made the rice with a little bit of pineapple juice and soy, so it was nice and sticky, had some left over harissa and…
I do 99% of the cooking in my house, and adding a dish that only I’m gonna eat is a pain, even if it’s just salad. But this will be something i try when the main meal is something easy and low prep.
Before (waves generally) all this we had gone out to an Indian restaurant and I ordered a side salad, because…
There used to be all kinds of non-movie Alien fiction. Some of it was pretty good. Your idea about their evolution on a death world is pretty much what the comics had. They were bad-ass because their word was brutal. They weren’t apex predators, but part of the food chain, with flyers and big beasts and other nasty…
