Yeah, it happens at some places where they remove the people from the active directory, it cuts the off from everything. The problem is when the people doing that work do not get coordinated with HR and other parties to make sure the workers can have a chance to be told in person/a call they will no longer be working

They don’t though... at least not anymore. Games and tech industries both would have massive payouts when things shipped or times went really well. A great example for tech as the google chefs, people who worked the kitchens at the HQ and maxed out their stock options, then the company goes crazy and they are now

As Trump most visibly showed - thinking you can suck up to a powerful narcissist and expect they will give two shits in return is a recipe for failure and disappointment.

“merit-based rewards still do exist out there for those willing to do the grind.”*

I work in IT, and at an old job I was assigned the ticket to remove my own system access during layoffs. (Termination Request).

I think its part of the minimise time between firing and ‘security escorts you out” to minimise sacked employees immediately taking laptops , monitors and everything not nailed down out the door. Or grabbing as many of your contacts /resources/artwork etc before they stop you .By the time you’ve confirmed that you

In some cases yes. In a lot roof cases, it is just how people find out. They try and log in at home before getting in and find they can’t log on, only to get to work and find out the true reason why.

I work in I.T. and the first thing that is usually done is to cut off access to email, log in etc. Granted most places will wait until the employee comes into the office and HR ushers them off to a meeting room while we disable them.

I don’t know if she was “underpaid” according to Silicon Valley standards for a person at her job position - she might have been.”

Can confirm as I’ve been on both sides of it in the last 18 months. I was out to dinner with my family one Friday when my phone started screaming force new credentials for email, Slack, Okta, etc. Got a text from my boss telling me to check my personal email. We’d both just been laid off.

Well, when you delete a line of data from a spreadsheet, do you sit down with the line of data, break it to them gently, offer it support and counselling, and promise to help it find a place in another spreadsheet? Elon appears to consider human employees about the same.

I don’t know if she was “underpaid” according to Silicon Valley standards for a person at her job position - she might have been. But she had a Director level position and was previously the CEO of a company that Twitter acquired. She’s doing fine.

It is, Twitter is already subject to multiple lawsuits over their dismissal practices, including but not limited to refusing to pay employees agreed upon severance payments.

I had no idea that “locked out of email” was the way people are fired nowadays.  Cant notify them via email, of course, so...not even a phone call?   Seems insanely unprofessional and prone to lawsuits....

I am sure he included Asians because he thinks it doesn’t make him look like a racist.

From my own dealings with him, he doesn’t like Asians much either.

Or she can be looked at as an overly ambitious and opportunistic Icarus who got too close to the Musk and paid the price for a not so good product roll out that embarrassed the delicate ego of the “greatest”leader” of all.

she was the CEO of Squad when it was purchased by Twitter for $40 million, i’m sure she was doing ok prior to working at Twitter

Shockingly, he’s also a racist piece of shit.
