I agree with VeggieTart. The party is already burning down. If anything, they need Hillary to win so they’re different factions have a common enemy to fight against again, but if they don’t boot the deplorables and try and rebuild from there, then we’ll be right back here in 4 years.

I think it might be something along these lines- basically garbling some other phrase. I recall back during the primaries that Maddow theorized he said the “she got schlonged” thing as a combo of being a gross sexist weirdo and maybe actually thinking of the word “shellacked” and it seems plausible that something

My guess is that it was a calculated risk (eta: or as others have pointed out, the double standard of her needing to hand over extra materials. or both!). Over time, they’ve learned that every time she moves past one supposed scandal, people find a new one. She knew what was in her speeches and that there was at most

The whole argument about him being conservative or liberal kind of misses the point to start with. Trump is kind of a proto-fascist and also too lazy to define a lot of his actual policies, so what we end up with is a sort of selective populism, at least rhetorically, plus standard conservative policies he copy-pasted

Not even fair to bet on it. If you’re enough of a wackadoo that you think you can live on sunlight, you’re probably not down with this “medicine” business.

Ron Paul suggested he might vote for Jill Stein.

I saw this tweet this morning, that I thought was incredibly accurate:

Exactly. Sanders did much better than anyone expected, but it was still never really that close.

I currently expect that he’ll show up for #2 to try and prove that he can beat her, attempt to be on message, and probably start to spiral again once she gets in a few more jabs. Clinton’s team probably has a warehouse full of delicious oppo research, so I’m sure she’ll have a few more hits. Given his pathological

People keep saying this and it’s missing the point. The point isn’t to change his supporters’ minds. The true believers already live in an alternate reality and there is no point in trying to bother with them. The targets for stuff like this are undecideds and moderate Republican voters who are thinking of supporting

I think this is the correct take. I really enjoy both, but LoK has some really fantastic highs and loads of interesting ideas, but has more places that it falls flat, while AtLA maintains a more consistent quality throughout.

This is plausible, but I think it depends a lot on whether or not the GOP fractures. The Dems are clearly looking to repeat the dominance of the FDR era, and if the GOP cracks up, it isn’t impossible.

I think the GOP nom depends a lot on the shape the post-Trump fallout takes, and if the party full on breaks in half. At this point it’s honestly hard to say. They do love Paul Ryan, but if there is pushback on the Trump wing, then he’s could be looked at poorly for caving. If they double down, it could be Ryan, but

Apparently Bloomberg TV says they’ll be running an on-screen fact check live with the debate, which is something! I don’t know about anyone else, though.

I don’t know everything that goes into the caucus electing their leader, but I feel pretty confident that it will not be Bernie. It’s plausible, but pretty unlikely. For one, Schumer is ALREADY part of the Democratic leadership hierarchy (Vice Chair of the Conference, Chair of the Senate Dem Policy and Communication

I keep mentioning this but anecdotally there are MANY Clinton supporters who do not feel safe putting out signs and bumper stickers. I’ve heard reports of people getting their cars keyed and signs vandalized. No signs doesn’t necessarily mean supporters are lukewarm.

There actually were recently changes to the Levy case.

Ugh: supporters. Too late to edit.

It is worth noting that a lot of Hillary supports have reported, at least anecdotally, that they don’t feel safe posting things like signs and bumper stickers.
