So, I have been vaguely aware of Vocaloids for a while, but only started seriously paying attention after finding out that Miku had opened for Lady Gaga this past summer, which just continually blows my mind. Not that she opened for Lady Gaga specifically, because this is exactly the kind of thing Gaga would sign off

Honestly, I'm in about the same place. I just wanted to make that point about the whole calling the CDC thing. She probably should have known better. I still place more blame on the hospital and CDC for not making sure that the caretakers had appropriate gear and allowing them to get exposed in the first place. But

It's worth noting that the person she called at CDC might have just been some schmuck who wasn't a doctor or nurse and was basically answering questions off of an FAQ. The CDC is still at fault for not having a special call-in number for the nurses (or at least an order to direct their calls to someone with more

If someone can sketch out a repeating pattern, I'm pretty sure there is website that does fabric printing like that. One of the artists I follow on tumblr did that for a Pacific Rim print she made. I'd have to find the service, though.

Considering that I have a giant collage I made out of Microbe covers in my dining room, I'm pretty down with this one. I also have a bunch of the plushy microbes on a shelf in my living room.

I'm just going to jump on to this to point out that Hatsune Miku != William Gibson's Idoru, because the the virtual pop star in the book was an AI who could make decisions/think for herself/etc etc, not simply a computer program.

Did you happen to take any screenshots? It looks like the page has been scrubbed now. There's a big jump from like today to several days ago (at least when I just looked).

I grew up in Pittsburgh and I'm not super hostile towards it or anything, but I can absolutely admit that it is an accurate description. People back home get mad touchy about our bad reputation, but it's really not entirely undeserved. There's lots of stuff I like back home, but we have soooo many problems. Someone

We really just have that one day off (that I know about). I think it is mostly just because it gets tacked onto Thanksgiving break. I'm sure that isn't the official reasoning, but I did know a bunch of people, including my Dad and sisters, who would go hunting over the break and not come back until Sunday night or

I'm not sure what you mean. Different hunting seasons refer to when it is allowable to hunt for certain animals. The multiple deer seasons refer to the separate permits you need to have for each of the seasons and the different periods when you are allowed to hunt. I think PA has a billion deer seasons because 1. we

You're doing better that they were- they didn't pick up that it was deer. I just looked it up and I'm not sure if the dates line up any more, but western PA (and some parts of central PA) generally has the Monday following Thanksgiving off of school and the commonly accepted reason for this was because hunting because

I live in the Midwest currently (a super yuppie area) and I constantly and looking for ways to describe my hometown. I am definitely going to steal this.

Off-topic but cool: Her icon there is Lady Oscar from Rose of Versailles! If you aren't familiar with that, go here. I appreciate the thematic relevance. Oscar has pretty much no patience for anyone's bullshit.

Nice!!! What fandoms did you make videos for?

jfc. I know I ended up talking about it with my mom earlier this year. She feels super guilty about it now. I'm sort of... past being angry (thanks, therapy!). But she said that at the time, she didn't really know that it was different from taking me to a dietician or similar and thought that if it was dangerous for

Yeah. Best part about it was that that conversation happened with an OB-GYN. It was my very first GYN visit ever and I still get anxious to the point of panic attack before going in for GYN visits now, despite all of the doctors I've seen for them since being way nicer.

I think WW can be kind of variable. While I think the Leaders get some training, at least in my experience, none of them are like... professionals. Most of the group meetings I went to, the Leader was just some lady.

As other people have mentioned, I think step one is acknowledging that is it is extremely difficult. Most doctors just tell me all the bad things about being heavy, give me a pamphlet or two and leave it at that. I've had one or two doctors chastise me that losing weight isn't that hard and that I was making excuses.

Ooh I have some too:
