I think you are misinterpreting me. The 100% good was NOT SAYING THAT EVERY ACTION HAS TO BE 100% GOOD. I have no idea how you got that from this:

Yes, she has SOME posts where she gives the names of people. I still side-eye the ones where she doesn’t.

It’s pretty insulting that she or someone on her team did not get the name of a village chief, but posted a picture.

That is really great!

Yes, and along those same lines, if we don’t point out the issues and problems with things like this, we won’t get better.

Indeed. I’ve never said otherwise.

You’re probably right re:her job. The ickyness of her pictures/captions has definitely tainted my view of her trip. I just went over to her Twitter, which is full of pictures like this:

Of course she can do whatever she wants. My comment to mollymlf just had to do with why (for me) some of these things are eyeroll-inducing and others aren’t.

I think it comes down to two things. (1) Are you providing a service that people otherwise wouldn’t have access to? (2) Are you using it as a way to enrich your first wold life?

I’ve never watched this guy particularly, but I do get the idea of You Tube stars in general. I don’t follow any regularly, but the few I’ve seen off and on have just had kind of a sketch comedy feel to them. So, to me, watching their videos is the same as watching a sketch comedy show on TV.

When your kid has bad grades, not because they didn’t work hard, not because they didn’t do what was asked of them, but because they’re just a mediocre student- that’s a bitter pill to swallow

What?

He was screaming and yelling in the sense of protesting on social media. (“Just try to take my guns away government!!1!!1" type of stuff.) His primary argument was that he wasn’t a “thug,” but a responsible gun owner who needed his gun to protect himself or random people from an attack. He definitely had major

*Stepdad (I know, it doesn’t matter for the sake of the argument, but it matters to me!)

Yep. I’ve never gotten a clear story about what exactly happened. We don’t have a good relationship and it happened during a rough time in my extended family (it was days after the death of one uncle—cancer—and another uncle died totally unexpectedly—heart failure—a week after that) so I didn’t have the emotional

Oh God. That’s heartbreaking. I’m so sorry.

Yes! Exactly!

No. I don’t think I ever mentioned criminal vs law abiding. I’m saying my stepdad was likely irresponsible all along. He has refused to be up front about how the whole thing happened.* I think at some point he probably started playing with his gun when he was bored, or to feel “cool” or something.

Yep. I don’t feel bad for my stepdad at all (He went through lot of pain and a long recovery), but this incident happened in a parking lot. It wasn’t a super-crowded parking lot, but crowded enough that someone could have been walking by. So scary.
