I totally agree, I can’t believe all the blame being thrown around on this girl and her friends. Obviously, this situation could have been avoided if any one of several parties had made different decisions. Why do so many people insist on making it known that they blame her (or her friends)?

I don’t agree. In both situations, I would maybe mention it if I didn’t already know. Like if I showed up for drinks and my friend was visibly pregnant or missing a tooth, I might ask (but would more likely just wait for them to bring it up).

My guess is you’re probably right that no one is doing it as their only source of income (unless they are otherwise subsidized by parents/spouse). BUT, you can’t just say, “hey, it’s a part time job, and having it means you’re talented otherwise, so we’re not going to pay you.”

Nobody’s at their best when they don’t feel well; it’s not uncommon at all for hospital staff to have to deal with a “difficult” patient who doesn’t understand what’s happening and/or is being loud and belligerent about treatment
