This moves the game into my “need to look into” column.

Elon signed an agreement. He didn’t understand the agreement, but he signed it, and not understanding what you signed is not grounds for throwing out the agreement.
The major difference: Twitter was publicly traded. Sega is a division of Sega-Sammy Holdings. Microsoft could, theoretically, do a hostile buyout of Sega-Sammy Holdings - but Sega-Sammy Holdings can absolutely refuse to sell Sega.
They have several major series that are still doing well such as Yakuza, Persona, Puyo Puyo, etc. Sonic also does pretty well for itself via non-game properties such as merch, films, series, etc. If anything they are in a pretty healthy state right now
The one situation? I’d much prefer Konami to sell.
They might not count Persona or Total War, since those are acquired franchises and not “pure” Sega. Yakuza/Like A Dragon totally counts though.
This is the one situation where I wish they would sell. Sega has seemed borderline incompetent vis-a-vis their insanely valuable properties for two decades. The one classic game they make, Sonic Mania, is specifically repudiated by Sega after its release where they say they will never make a game like it again. And…
Elon literally fucked around, found out
In the meanwhile there’s the VM2: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vm2-the-next-gen-vmu-for-the-dreamcast#/
It's cancelled.
If you played any of the Persona games, or Yakuza games, or Total War games then you played a Sega game. They own a lot of stuff, not only Sonic.
I can’t remember the last time I played a Sega game. I can’t even think of one I would want to play on gamepass. I did listen to the dreamcast PSO soundtrack today while doing boring work, though!
Complete with newfangled VMUs, please!
Musk opened his dumb mouth and made a ridiculously high offer that he never intended to keep. Twitter called out his shit and made him keep his word.
Dreamcast 2, please.
I’m just still holding out hope that there will be a Dreamcast Mini some day lol
Because despite being interested, SEGA hasn’t agreed to any offers, that’s the key difference. They said no.
Dumdum tried to get Twitter via a hostile takeover, which they blocked him from doing, so he just offered to straight up buy them out. He made a formal offer, they agreed to the buyout, it got all the approvals…
Twitter wanted to sell itself; the offer was at a substantial premium and the leadership was both obligated to assess it and happy to receive it. That’s why they took Musk to court to force him to follow through on the deal when he attempted to renege on it on the basis that he felt he was overpaying after deeper…
I think saying Twitter was forced to sell is a little bit of a misnomer. Elon overpaid like crazy and I think the shareholders were too in shock by his sheer stupidity and wanted to grab the cash before the banks realized what a colossal mistake they were making by giving that moron a blank check. Thus the perfect…
Twitter was “forced” to sell itself to some dumb fuck
