When something similar happened in Ohio (though not nearly as large in scale) there were many young children who ended up being cared for by their babysitters and the community at large for months. The local church ended up organizing lots of different congregations and faith organizations to come in an feed people,

That is nuts! I made $12 an hour for warehouse work (in a temp job) 15 years ago (in the midwest).

This makes me sad - I handle HR for a small company and I do my darndest to stop inappropriate behaviors, get our employees training, and be a voice for people who are feeling harassed and burnt out. Is it because I work for a small company?

Did they really? I don’t consume much main stream media so hadn’t seen that. I still cry when I think about Sandy Hook.

Bowling Green is basically a suburb of Toledo. He must really hate us out here in NW Ohio since he keeps wishing us massacred.

I live in a very old house (for the US) and have a light that flashes/strobes in my kitchen. I generally ask it to “please stop while I’m making dinner.” It generally does. My husband was complaining about it one night while he was doing something and I said “just ask it nicely to stop.” - he did and it did and it

So I heard Williamson interviews on some CNN show last week, and while she should never, ever be a political candidate I did love what she said (basically we have been focusing on the problems in the US, but America is filled with incredible people doing wonderful things and we should harness it, etc. etc. etc.). I feel like they also need to give their production crews a break? I know some folks who do production work with MCU and between Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame they practically didn’t get any time off for 5 years.

I’m late to the party - but Lucas County is the same county that the Charlottesville driver who killed Heather Heyer is from.

I just watched the Norton episode with Bill Murray, Lord Grantham and Matt Damon and I actually just laughed for 20 minutes! It was a great pick me up on a rainy day.

Yep - if you aren’t fully funded and in a top ten program (and really closer to top 5 these days), it probably isn’t worth trying.

I’m sure it is different across fields, but my understanding is that as professors who’ve been around since the 70s and 80s retire, search committees full of younger folks understand the current market and are way more likely to hire people who have adjunct jobs on their resume. My DH adjuncted for two years, then had

Am here for the Maxima love! She is a delight and sort of my style icon. She always looks so happy and confident in whatever she wears, even if it is absolutely bonkers 20% of the time.

Hello Friend! I’m also a wfhp and I will go days without ever leaving my house - I see you and salute you!

But there are several states that won’t pay for business travel to certain locations if you are a public sector worker (this often includes academia) - Georgia is going to be added to that list soon.

Our company has done a solid amount of work with Disney in Atlanta for several years and just started working with Netflix in a few southern locations. We have actually been taking the steps of opening up a small office down there to accommodate that business. Ugh - all on hold for the foreseeable future now.

Rupert Grint has a delightful movie with Bill Nighy and Emily Blunt (called Wild Target- I think?) - that I thoroughly enjoyed several years ago. Definitely worth watching.

That is a movie that I love/hate - All four performances are just out of this world, but they are all so awful that I can’t bear to spend time with them.

thank you! this was amazing

Adaptation is spectacular. I also loved Matchstick Men.
