Yeah, but....:

I may be drawing a fine line, but I'm pretty sure people knew about fatigue beforehand. Fracture mechanics, on the other hand....

Since most engineers in the US work for "Limited Liability Corporations," they are not personally responsible for their actions, and the corporation is also generally only held to be responsible in civil, rather than criminal, court. If an engineer works as a consultant, however, he can run into problems. Like others

If you seriously believe that, you should consider reading The Atlantic's March 2014 issue article titled "The Fraternity Problem"

Thankfully, in CA also, the person going straight has the right of way. Found this out the (physically, not liability-wise) hard way when an asshat (British, as it turns out) made an unprotected left turn at an intersection when the light turned green for both lanes going straight. In this case, there was a car

Uhhhh, unless this is the most elaborate April Fool's prank ever, the company's own website disagrees:

Everybody calm down. He obviously implied that it should be powered by a small fusion reactor in the back, which would also use its own energy to power a device to pull hydrogen out of the air to feed it. Pretty simple, and you could do a dual system and it would even work underwater!

Yeah, and then they go onto confuse "communist" with "liberal". The main issue is that with their PC word choice, they brainwash the populace into double-thinking themselves into not realizing the source of their problems is the people telling them to blame others, and then, voila! We get Bush's second term. We get

Thanks for doing the hard work.

Whoa. Reading the "In Its Own Words" bit is truly frightening. This is why I'm not displeased that no dimwit will ever be able to tell that I was born and lived in a Middle Eastern country - the powers of a name no-one can pronounce or identify with an origin, and looking like a local regardless of where I am.

I'm not recommending it based on its IBU's. I'm recommending it based on its taste. If you're that prejudiced against any beer with an IBU above 30, then nevermind. My life will not be affected in the slightest if someone whose whole understanding of hops is "hoppy" they are doesn't want to come out of his shell.

Before you write off IPA's as a category, try Russian River's Pliny. Kinda hard to come by, but definitely worth it.

Sorry, were you saying something?

Pulled stupid there. Speed limit's 45, actually.

The article said "crash was caused by speed", not that the fatalities were caused by speed.

Yup. Such a great road, but always full of idiots. Either an idiot pulling shit like that, or an idiot crawling at 30 when the speed limit's 35 and there are 10 cars behind him. And the one time you find the road without idiots, it's crawling with cops. So much potential, but never realized.

Well, the poor have shitty (if any) TVs, but there are pleeeeenty of people with the same quality TV you can get here (with a couple months' delay, perhaps). Just because a government broadcasts propaganda doesn't mean everyone believes it....

Wait, what??????? How could someone be THAT stupid? Some may be offended, but let's just say he would do mankind a favor by winning a Darwin award, and judging by that, it might not be very far out of his reach.

And that's exactly why I want to be part of their making. Spacecraft, or cars. We'll see how that works out, though. Probably not much easier, though...

As an old tennis coach used to love to say: "Good eye!"
