I would say the difference is that at least 95% of the films I’m exposed to end up being dreadful, whereas the percentage of music/theatre/books has a much higher batting average.

So I’m an avid reader (41 books so far in 2018), but I would say the same about movies, that the form isn’t conducive to quality storytelling. Do you feel that’s disingenuous? I legitimately feel the medium of film is only rarely capable of creating anything of quality.
