They’re a cool punk band from LA!

By what sort of twisted legal logic is a person liable when someone else, drunk or otherwise, commits all manner of moving violations and crashes into anything on private property? It’s not like he’s installing a bunch of sharpened steel spikes aimed outwards at the road. It’s a wall; there are walls everywhere.

He didn’t though; he sided with management. They could’ve imposed an agreement that was at least marginally more labor friendly too, but didn’t do that.

If you get in an accident and they think they need to amputate your arm, but only wind up taking a hand - is that a “win”? “Could be worse” does not equal “win”.

I’m not sure where the 3 days are coming from. The forced contract gave them only 1 (but yes 1 > 0, very good). That they have since managed to get it up to 4

A rail strike would have been crippling to the economy.

You... you consider that a win for labor?

The difference is the UAW isn’t subject to the RLA, so they at least have that going for them. That being said, the Federal mediator already forced the Southwest union back to the table. The Administration’s decision to break the backs of the railway unions showed managements everywhere that they don’t have to give

Not that you wouldn’t be fine, but I suspect this “elderly driver” doesn’t do any of those things you mention either. The problem is, none of those are what happened here and it’s reaction time that is the factor, which is something that decreases with age in general.

Yes. His role on Community was amazing because they brought in so many nods to his earlier works (including his narration of the earlier Ken Burns style documentary episode).

Are... are you suggesting it could have taken off from the aircraft carrier if it just had engines?

I always “love” when people point this out.

They’re actually growing on me and based on those dimensions, you could actually slide a piece of plywood in this thing on top of the wheel well/armrest humps.

The green is excellent, I wish more cars offered that color. And for some reason the tail lights don’t look quite as odd on that color.

There are so many bad actors out there - or rather the bad actors maybe be technically uncommon but they’re really bad (see the various “go back to where you came from” encounters) - that there isn’t a proper way to ask unless you’ve already established a relationship that makes it appropriate or it comes up

I lived in New Jersey for three years (so by the rules of the internet, I’m an expert), and this was the second dumbest thing about being there - the first being that you couldn’t even buy beer in most grocery stores. Though that law has an upside in that it’s so hard to get a liquor license, many restaurants allow

This is exactly it - the problem with the question is that subconsciously or otherwise, it’s attempting to establish that one person is not really American, or is a late-comer or something along those lines. You see it even more frequently with people that appear to be Asian/East Asian/Middle-eastern. The conversation

Ah the variant of the classic white person, “But where are you from?” question.

The first girl’s over-emphasis of the “L” sound is distractingly strange, but she certainly looks the part the most. Maybe that’s intentional. Of course, I’m an old, so I don’t get the whole “poorly lip-synched” thing the youths are doing these days.

I mean, I agree - but the Railway Labor Act is very specific about how that happens. It sucks.

Here’s what happened to the United union when they just had the temerity to tell their members to “fly the contract”.
