This isn’t the first time Matt Damon has royally fucked up either. He also thinks there’s no issue with a lack of women/minorities in power in Hollywood.

I’ve said it before but I especially hate the Father Of A Daughter line. Fuck you. Either you care about this because you’re a decent human being, or you don’t. I don’t have a daughter. I have a son. And I’d argue that as a woman who’s been sexually assaulted, I care more about raising him to properly respect others

“What he said to me was, ‘I’m going to do it. Every other president has promised, and all of them didn’t keep their promises,’”

No yelling. He had to go. If he had stayed, his 2020 re-election would have been a hot mess. I doubt he would be re-elected. His resignation now allows the state’s Democratic governor to appoint a quality person(woman!) to be the interim senator, allowing that person sufficient time in office to then be able to

Trump seems to think that the US has its embassy in Tel Aviv because no one has considered having it in Jerusalem before. Like this is some brilliant idea that he just came up with, rather than that this is an option that was considered and is actively not done because it’s a terrible idea.

The term doesn’t exist in the ‘86 film, but is prominently featured in every trailer for the 2017 series. Nola describes herself as a “sex positive polyamorous pansexual.” Spike is coopting identity of a marginalized group and misrepresenting their ethos to sell nothing more than  a justification for SGHI’s

Jesus. How awful. Also, how true her emotions seem to people (me and probably every woman I know) who have been in a coercive situation involving sex. #harrowing

She never said no?!?!

Yeah, how could she not see how “she never said no” sounds? So many rapists say that about victims who quietly cried or tried to squeeze their legs shut. Ugh.

Thanks y’all! Good to have my inexpert impressions confirmed. Usually I don’t notice good playing of anything- I could hear the greatest guitar solo in the world and say ‘yup, that sounded nice’. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s the drums that makes it stand out.

I can’t musically say if Bryan Devendorf is more talented than other drummers but I’ve often felt he’s The National’s special sauce that takes their songs to another level.

The National’s drummer, Bryan Devendorf, is great, but this album is really rounded out by a lot of guests, including the awesome percussion quartet Sō Percussion.

I saw them play a show in North Carolina years ago--maybe the Boxer tour?--and my friend and I were talking between songs about how incredible the drummer was. The older couple behind us then interjected to thank us for the kind words—they were his parents.

He is great, and really impressive live. I saw them play ‘Squalor Victoria’ the first time I saw them play live and was blown away.

He is without a doubt the MVP of this band. On paper, the music of the National should bore me to tears, but every time I see them live I remember how much I love seeing that band. And I think the drummer is the main reason. He turns these slow-burning, mid-tempo songs into something propulsive, while everything else

Yes, unusually good. Bryan Devendorf (the drummer) does not get enough credit for how much he contributes to their overall sound. He’s exceptional to the point where it’s sometimes shocking that they’re not using drum machines.

Yes! I mean, I couldn’t tell you whether their drummer is more technically accomplished then those in comparable bands, but the National’s drummer does tend to come up with driving, intricate, memorable beats.

Question, because I know nothing about music: do The National have an unusually good drummer? They seem to have more interesting (and prominent) percussion than most bands I can think of.

Unless you have an allergy or health condition that prevents you from using fluoride, don’t use fluoride-free toothpaste. Love your teeth people and let them love you back.

I saw it last night and loved it. Easily the best DC movie since the Nolan era. There’s a great cast but Robin Wright was especially awesome.
