There was also the corporate monster mentality at the time for GM. No one WANTED to change. That costs money. I once read how GM spent more money on lawyers + lobbying fighting putting catalytic converters on cars-than it would have if they just put them on the cars in the first place.

Yup-I was there for the last race. The field had been weeded down to the best drivers. It went fairly clean. But the track was way to small for the cars.

Over the past couple of elections, the tipping point has been blamed on “soccer moms” and “Nascar dads”. How can you win when you have less than 20% of women-less that 5% black + 0% percent latino votes? Besides having a pile of repubs vocally voting against you?

Not at all. Its monitored like crazy. I remember one time the news had a paniced report about a radiation leak. When they said how much, it was equal to the amount your tv puts out in a year. Radiation can be measured in crazy tiny amounts.
