Myth TV running the backend with a couple of tuners. XBMC for the front end on couple of other PCs and an Android phone and tablet. Also Plex is picking up the recordings so I can watch recorded shows offsite.
Check out Hauppage's HD-PVR. It's a box that records video in between the reveiver and the TV. That may work in your case.
Check to see if your city has a commuter service that offers emergency rides home. You may never need it, but it gives a piece of mind if you have to leave early or work late. Mine (Ridefinders) gives you up to 5 free cab rides a year for those who commute more than 3 days a week.
You can get around the small tags size by using a Tasker task to do the heavy lifting and just have the tag fire off the Tasker task.
You could do that, though the NFC keychain tags may be a better alternative. They are tiny enough (about the size of those reward card key tags) that you could keep a few on your keyring to switch playlists.
You have to have your phone fairly close to the tag, about a 1/2" or closer for it to read. Once your phone reads the info on the tag, NFC Tasker will process it to do whatever you assigned it to do. If you delete NFC Tasker, your phone will still attempt to read the tag, but you will get an error that there is no…
I've had pretty good luck with Keyring being able to scan. It has a function that you can set so if you put the barcode on the screen it cranks up the brightness of the screen to max. Also note that laser scanners will not work on a backlit screen at all.
HDWidgets 4x1. I like it because I can change the text color to match the theme and all three sections are hotspots to other apps (Weather will bring up eWeather and the clock brings up Doubletwist Alarm).
Just at the Firefox Extension "Download Status Bar". It's much better and allows pausing and resuming of downloads.
PSA: It's on sale for $1.99 right now (at least in the US Google Play Store). Shout out to some add-ons I've been loving lately that make Tasker even more powerful: Autoremote, Autoshare, Autonotification and Autoshortcut. These make Tasker even more fun!
Interesting looking product. It doesn't seem to mention about encrypted phones. Does it work against that? Also (and while a total geek, not all that verse in flashing phones) how is it able to bypass a locked boot loader without already being in the OS? I've seen the procedures to flash to a Galaxy Nexus device and…
"I think its a compromise between security and convenience" - True. Still amazes me how many people I run into that have no lock on their phones....not even something easy like a pattern lock.
Hmm.....good stone then :)
One problem that is easily fixed to the brute force problem: Have the phone wipe after say 10 wrong entries! With this set on IOS it locks the unlock function after 3 wrong tries and you have to wait 5 minutes or so before you can try again. IOS will keep increasing the wait time between wrong attempts (up to an hour…
Putting a frozen pizza on a hot pizza stone will crack it eventually (frozen french fries too). You would have to thaw the pizza before sliding it onto the stone. That works great to make a crispy pizza, but defeats the convienience of the frozen pizza.
It used to be part of the main app at one time, but they made it a separate app. I'm guessing this helps on the programming side to use code once across different OSes since IOS does not support widgets. Not sure of the logic.
A few apps actually have widgets that do this. Evernote has a great stand alone widget. Just tap the microphone and talk. Boom. Handy if you use this all the time.
I use this, but it's not the greatest replacement because sometimes feeds don't update at all. I'm not sure if it's an Exchange thing, but some RSS feeds will not update regularly for me. I'm not sure if it's the type of feed (atom vs. xml) or something else. A good example is I can subscribe to Tested.com and see an…
