Unity was available in 10.10 Netbook Edition....it sucked then, but it was before the beta releases of Gnome3.

Gnome 2 is still in 11.04. Just select "Ubuntu Classic" at login and you will see the familiar interface. BTW, Unity has keyboard short cuts galore! I use them a lot on a netbook I use because the track pad is a pain.

It does...just click "More Apps" and you get a full set of choices (most used, installed and available). Clicking "see XXX more results" will open the full list of that section or you can also click "More Applications" and on the right side of the search bar click the drop down arrow for all applications and you will

Another useful section is found under More/Answers. Here you can review questions in your field of expertise and answer them if you can help. Participating here will help flag you as an expert in that field, and that shows up in your profile. Handy tip: when you select a category of answers, on the right there is a

O.K. Don't put the lids on tightly unless you love explosions! The easiest way is to slice the cabbage (if you have a meat slicer, this is awesome) into a big bowl and salt it liberally to coat. Then pack it into mason jars pushing down with some blunt object. As you push, it will force liquid out of the cabbage and

I just setup recurring appointments in Remember the Milk to do the same and it also includes the URL to the site. Since I have RTM integrated with GMail where I can see upcoming appointments, I can see them show up in the task list a few days before they are due, .

I find with electronic devices it's sometimes faster to just go straight to the product website. Sometimes searches in Google take you to "pay for the PDF" sites. They seem prevalent with older TVs, A/V equipment, or universal remotes.

I've had pretty good success with a small 1 Qt. crock pot and a lamp timer. I put the oatmeal in the night before with twice as much water, plug it in to the timer and set it to come on 2 hours before I wake up. I've added dried fruit and honey and it seems to work great. I thought the oatmeal sitting in the cold

Thermos makes a decent food container that has a wide opening just for hot foods. There is a stainless steel version complete with folding spoon, or really cheap plastic kid versions that work as well. All you do is pour in the oatmeal and hot water and seal. Lasts through a long commute. Cleanup is easy since it has

No Linux Love? Whitson, you're loosing your groove ;-)

Buy a dehydrator and you can have even more fun! There is a good book titled "Backpack Gourmet" ([amzn.com] that has some great meals that you can make ahead of time and dehydrate for lightness.

I noticed it puts a button in the toolbar for Firefox....handy to use for troubleshooting if there is an issue. Hopefully it will show up in Mozilla's add-ons instead of having to go to the EFF. That would make it popular since some people would be leary of adding extensions outside of the add-on store environment.

Just so you know, it doesn't give them your actual email address, it merely lets them send an email to you through your profile. If it gets to be a problem, you can block that user in email or turn off the function all together. I think I've gotten one spam email through it in the year or two my profile has been setup

Nice list...especially since I use just about most of these programs. For CD/DVD and iso burning I like Infrarecorder and there is a portable version too. For vector drawing check out Inkscape.

No problem for WP7:

Google+ accounts get unlimited photo uploads....1Gb only applies if you do not have a Google+ account (an excellent reason to get one even if you are not planning in using it for your go to social network).
