I'm tired of the media predicting the end of something they don't know anything about (after all, the BBC has podcasts). First are they counting videocast? I ask because those have increased over audio only podcasts. It may be true that a lot of podcasts have gone by the wayside as the newness wears off, but the ones

WMC does do the DVR thing. I don't think XBMC does (never used it). Personally if you have the cash for it, the HTPC is much more flexible than the Tivo.

I use the Nogago app which the app itself is free and used the Openmap.org data so the maps are fairly good. The app is nice because you can download the maps for offline use for and extra $5 per zone which is huge (something like 100 miles x 100 miles or so). It's designed with the hiker/geocacher in mind with all

Uhg...might have to go streaming only with Netflix and hit up the local Red Box for the physical media when needed. Too bad they don't have a grandfathered plan for us who are already on Netflix.

Yeah, that invite window was open only a short bit yesterday. About an hour or so. Even if you get the invite, until you hit it at the magical time, you won't get in.

"They're not as tightly integrated with Google Docs as Lync is with Office 365, but they're all there." - I don't get this statement...group chat is built into Google Docs...that's "group" chat meaning all contributors can chat at the same time. Awesome feature imo. Also, if you are all seeing the same doc at the same

There are apps out there too that grab your Facebook friends info and populates it into your Google Contacts. That could be another avenue if you don't want to use Yahoo. I can't remember the name, but there is a Life Hacker article somewhere about cleaning up your Google Contacts that has that info.

Use email filtering to bypass the inbox and place it in it's own folder. I had the same issue with Freecycle and this worked for me while keeping my sanity. The nice thing is I can scan through the offers faster by just looking at the subject lines.

Ahh...learn something new everyday! Thanks all!

VOTE: Thunderbird with Lightning add-on

Um, the FAQ certainly doesn't make me feel better....the first question has a misspelled word (should be organization with a "z") and training will tell you that misspelled words are a good sign of a phishing scam.

Sweet...that worked (missing the .5.0 part). The hive mind is awesome as usual!

Yeah new Firefox....Boo....broken add-ons! Grrr... Anyone know how to disable compatibility checking in Version 5? I did the "extensions.checkCompatibility = false" and "extensions.checkUpdateSecurity = false" but when I try to re-enable the add-on and restart FF if takes out the "extensions.checkUpdateSecurity"

8000 songs took almost 4 days. Yes it's slow because the software maxes out around 1 Mb per second so it doesn't hog your Internet connection. I can say this, that while uploading, it didn't seem to kill any other work I was doing including watching movies on Netflix. So once everything is uploaded it's nice that

Sounds like something is clearing your cookies. I know using CCleaner wipes out my logins. Have you setup any PC cleaner tools to run automatically?

Nope. It doesn't display anything on the screen until you hit play on a video and all you get is the video.

Maybe order those archive boxes they use for photos and store it in there? Just a thought.

The funny thing is the design of DTV convertors (those boxes the US government gave coupons for during the conversion from NTSC to ATSC) are required to have a "sleep" timer on by default that turns the box off automatically after 4 hours if there is no input from the user (pressing a remote button). Seems like a good

This is another case of depends on the user really. I am a power MSOffice user as well as a LibreOffice and Google Docs user. For the basic's, either is fine. Office does shine in the professional end of things because of a lot of built in things that save time. For instance there is a huge amount of built in clip art

OneNote is good, but since I use products outside of what it is available on (Linux, Blackberry, Android, etc...) it makes it very limited. That is my reason for choosing Evernote since it's available everywhere I need it to be. Truly it's all in what works best for you, but I figured I'd at least give a different
