Right, that’s my point, though. In the big picture of a full renovation when they’re already spending a lot, find a place in the budget. As contractors, they can source top quality 3/4 inch red or white oak in Texas for cheap. Probably a couple bucks a square foot.

I love my miter saw and use it way more than my circular saw. Even if all I used it for was cutting up wood for the fireplace it would be worth it.

‘82 is the year I got the Pinto. Seats down, party on. I used to take it to Tahoe for ski runs, too.

They sold out to Constellation Brands a couple years ago for one billion dollars (literally). I like their beer and drink it at other people’s homes, etc.. but I don’t buy it for myself anymore. I’d prefer to support the local (and elsewhere) independent craft guys. There are so many choices now, that I can be picky.

Yea, but you do understand that those of us that go to bars tip bartenders, right? That’s standard. Also, I don’t think I’m doing anything out of the ordinary tipping at the coffee place or when I get take out. Because I’m not a cheapskate. I actually tip 20 percent if I call the Chinese place and go get it and bring

I don’t disagree, yet my wife and I watch every one.. The episode where they renovated the loft for someone surprised, me, though. I liked how that came out. I also didn’t mind the one they did for the rock star guy that just aired.

I think we’ve created a pretty clear construct around tipping, mostly for food/drink service people. Backing up to your original question, why tip the bartender if you don’t tip at the coffee shop?

I don’t eat fast food. If they had the option or a jar and I did eat fast food, I would drop a buck or two in. When I go to the middle eastern place around the corner from me, I call ahead and pick it up and tip them. When I get pizza and beer (from the counter) at my favorite NY style place, I tip them. When I sit at

I live in craft beer central - San Diego - and I go out of my way to buy beer in cans. So much easier to store more in the fridge, perfect for parties (no broken glass) and perfect for transport. Thankfully, so many brewers are making all or most of their beer in cans, it’s not really hard to choose..

I had a ‘72 Pinto wagon. Rootbeer brown with faux wood paneling. Somewhere, a hipster is probably envious.

This is the correct take. Which is why even though I could easily pick from several companies (including GD) to work for in Southern CA that build war machines and bombs - fuck that.

Looks like my FB friend took down his post. Must have realized when my brother and I mocked him relentlessly.

Jesus.

“Cough up a buck, you cheap bastard”

It makes insane when people tip for shit. I was back visiting home up in the bay area recently and was behind this lady at my favorite coffee place. These people in this neighborhood are fucking loaded. Not like tech worker 6 figure types, fucking loaded. She gets a sandwich and a coffee at the counter and the girl

Saw two Stingers in person last week in two days. They were driving, so I didn’t get up close, but otherwise, they sure looked cool.

People love to be part of a team or whatever. I mean, I like to go to baseball games, but you don’t see me running around in a jersey in public. I don’t argue with people about baseball, I don’t scream and yell like a drunken maniac at a game and I don’t get into fights over a win/loss.

Right, but at least dealers wouldn’t have to keep stock.

I’ve wondered that myself. I was most certainly alive back then, living in the middle of Silicon Valley. I very much remember bad air days with cancelled recess and lunch inside. We’d be best to leave that in the past.

Part of it admittedly is envy on my part - I’ve been working for almost 35 years and it sure seems like enough at this point. I told my wife when I turn 59 1/2 (in 8 years, when I can pull from my IRA/401K) I’m quitting whatever in the hell I’m doing and taking a break, then volunteering and doing something enjoyable.
