Well, no one ever accused Trump supporters of being particularly visionary.

Correct- which is why immigration is important.

No, it’s actually the other way around- the decision to have children is largely determined by economics and education.

For the foreseeable future, immigration can fill some of the slowing demographics. At some point, birthrates will fall dramatically in those countries sending the most immigrants. But, by that time, much of the work in our economy- including eldercare- will likely be done by machines, AI, robots, etc.

Ryan’s dead wrong on the economics of having children. Evidence from just about every demographic, ethnic, and cultural sector on the planet points to a higher individual standard of living and greater national economic growth in direct proportion to a decreasing birthrate.

Most of my neighbors here in LA are liberal, but not particularly progressive. Meaning, very liberal on social issues, supportive of the ACA and some sort of national healthcare system, but not exactly enthusiastic about stifling business and free trade. And, there are tens of millions of Democrats like this in

Okay- while you’re correct that making that much driving Uber is very, very hard. I was sort of making a larger point about the unique and specific niche these jobs fill.

I’ve met immigrants here in LA- Persians, Armenians, Burmese, Mexicans- who drive for multiple ride sharing companies and clear $2000k a week.

You’re not going to make a ton of money driving for Uber and Lyft, but again, you’re getting something that 99% of other jobs won’t give you: unlimited flexibility.

It probably has something to do with leaning in and all that crap.

One of the benefits of working for ride sharing companies is that you trade a guaranteed income for convenience and time.

You guys saved the day today for the country. Thanks you!

I’ve been to Alabama twice- once driving through the state, and once visiting on business. I think Alabama’s a really pretty state, actually. From Mobile on the bay, to the Appalachians in the northeast, a million rivers...most of the people I met there were friendly- and I certainly don’t look white.

We’re not exactly a backward racist country. We’re a pretty cool, technologically and socially country that hasn’t completely shrugged off its nationalist, backward, racist history.

I think that’s right. Every musician who was cool and raw and unique in the 60's and 70's either became what one would call “basic,” or faded into oblivion: Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Elton John...

In the same way that I believe a DACA recipient born in Texas is American, I also believe that any baby born in any place is a native to that place, including an Asian in San Francisco, a Swede in Minnesota, a Black person in Omaha.

“You might be surprised by the proximity of “brocialists” to the alt-right.”

Strange as it may sound to you, some people are simply racist douchebags who don’t like Black people and would continue to dislike Black people if we outlawed options trading, nationalized Goldman Sachs, and made the world one big country.

Boston landlords ignoring calls from those with Black sounding names has literally nothing to do with breaking up JP Morgan, regulating options trading or separating commercial from investment banking on Wall Street.

Sigh........The 90's are calling and want Bill Clinton, his crime bill, Ross Perot, and NAFTA back.
