I'm wondering if Crystal Dynamic will keep the bow in potential sequels now that it's become part of revamp-Lara's core image. It would become difficult to explain how or why she keeps an unusual weapon like that on her globe-trotting adventures (if that is indeed the direction the series is going). Maybe it'll be

Eh, cyclops eyeball-gouging is in The Odyssey. That makes it officially High Culture.

So I guess Adventure Time can add Progressive Rock to its list of influences, along with D&D, video games, and 80s anime. It's like a nexus of all the weird, wonderful things that sit in a garage and wait for you to pick them up again— yellowed with age but all the more transporting for it.

Or if Jack the Ripper was a Templar serial killer and the reason we don't know who he was is because an Assassin got rid of him, quietly.

No-one who's watched that show could possibly hate Aquaman. Unless they had the cold-blooded heart of a villain. Outrageous!

Zelazny's Amber, or are we thinking of different parallel worlds?

It's for enthusiasts— adults for whom gaming is their primary hobby. It's not much different than car enthusiasts splurging on souped-up jalopies. They invest in what— to them— is an optimal experience.

Setting aside my thoughts about character design: I can't concede that the animation in New Batman is "better," personally. Generally smoother and more consistent, yes. But I can't watch these episodes without longing for the darker (visually, not necessarily thematically), Fleischer-Superman-inspired style of the

The Bruce Wayne redesign, of all things, is what frustrates me the most about The New Batman Adventures. The massive jaw, the inhumanly pale blue eyes, the slicked-back hair, and the lack of face-lines— all make him look detached, doll-like, and younger than his TAS incarnation. The original Bruce's expressions of wry

I've always been fond of computer-as-nervous-system analogies. It really is the best way of introducing hardware to new builders

And some sort of knife/scalpel in another! Amazing that this game managed a K-A rating (what would today be an E), especially since the opening cutscene features the scientist's human body being shot by thugs and cyborg hardware being fused to his head.

Obviously this is a game where you play as an arachnid, not an insect— but it still seems relevant: "Spider: The Video Game"

"Highly Suspicious," from Evil Urges. Jim James doing his Prince-style falsetto always gets a grin out of me; I love that track no matter how much people mutter about it

These designs are indeed very sharp and imaginative. Thanks for sharing, Magnum— who's the artist?

Did anyone else think the animation of the Gumball Guardian's laser beam was a tribute to Miyazaki's "apocalypse robots/mutants" from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind? For reference:

Agree, a thousand times agree

Even if we ignore the well-established fact that Hunson Abadeer— Lord of Evil— is her father, we were shown in "Jake the Dog" that Marceline was already alive in one form or another before the Lich emerged from and/or was created by the Mushroom Bomb.

Agreed— XII doesn't deserve that low a ranking in any Final Fantasy list. It's certainly in my top 3.

You don't have to equip the "Item" option. That's the whole point. You can sacrifice the ability to use items on a particular character in order to slot in some other— possibly more advantageous— ability.
