Just a small quibble: premeditation doesn’t mean that a person plan for days or even hours to kill someone. It means that a person formulate the intent to kill and then take a step in that direction.

To me, their “confession” is a bit shady. I mean, they did get up and walk out after that confession with no charges.

So I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t true justice means giving this dude more time. To me, true justice is giving the defendants of color shorter sentences more in line with what dudes like this get.

I work in criminal defense in Sacramento, and lemme tell you, the DA NEVER takes this long deciding if they should bring charges or not. In most of our cases, the charges are filed less than a week after the alleged crime.
