Sigh. This is where I was born, raised, and still live, and this makes me sick. The Sacramento County jail is an absolute hell hole and I’ve lost count of the number of times they’ve been sued and LOST.

Also his teammates are just kids and I’m sure they were in a state of “wtf.” 

California will be ending cash bail as of January 1, and lemme tell you, the bail bonds industry is PISSED.  I’ve heard rumors that they’ll be filing a lawsuit claiming that eliminating cash bail violates the Constitution. Which is just patently ridiculous.  The Federal system eliminated cash bail back in the 80's.

State and Fed sentencing systems are completely different. There needs to be more done on a state level for sure, but this change at a federal level is important. It can help serve as model for state courts to follow.
