Collecting sales tax from customers is not the same as paying state and local taxes. Amazon received big tax breaks to stay in Seattle and build in SLU pushing up rents that has led to the loss of some iconic businesses.

I don’t think you can count sales tax as taxes paid by Amazon. Sales taxes are collected from their customers and passed on to the states. Amazon fought not to collect sales tax because it gave them a competitive advantage.

Amen! We need an income tax but it won’t get anywhere until we have a study on the different models. Personally, I think a reduction or even elimination of the state portion of the sales tax. My property taxes went up almost $1000 from 2016 to 2017 and the car I bought yesterday will cost $450 to register.

My thought is if enough people refuse, most of whom are citizens, they won’t be able to target vulnerable individuals. I’m an upper middle class white woman and a citizen by birth. I’m happy to have these asshats come to my door. They can prove I didn’t just forget to answer 1 question.

Not if we all “I am Spartacus” the question but just skipping over it. If enough people fill out the form but skip just the citizenship question we create a group large enough to make enforcement impossible.

I assume you mean don’t answer the citizenship question not don’t answer at all. I plan to ignore the citizenship question but participate in the rest. We’re stuck with this process so it’s important to be counted for repesentation but you’re right about the statistics of not answering one quesiton.
