People are going to get their knickers in a twist over this because it is a Catholic school. As a byproduct of the Catholic education system (where I got a pretty ho-hum education, and didn’t realize until I went to private school), and as a staunch anti-Catholic Church kinda person (seriously...they’re assholes), I

How irritatingly shrill and click-bait-y of you. This place could have continued taking her money and failing to educate her, but they decided she would be better served in a school that had curriculum designed for at-home students or partial attendance. Do you know how hard it is to educate? Widely different students

OK, I am now digging through articles via google (this is what’s important today, people), and here is one explanation offered by representatives of the school:

Yeah, that’s what I was getting from it. It sounds like their position wasn’t punitive, as it’s presented here, but they just had no way to teach a child who couldn’t come to school and were trying to determine what other programs might serve her.

“We know Rose to be an intelligent and thoughtful child, and believe she would be well-suited to enroll in an academic setting more geared to homebound students, perhaps an online program as we have discussed in the past.”

While it sucks, this kid is better off in a public school system where the schools are required by law to accommodate her and her needs. She’s likely gonna have long-lasting cognitive repercussions from her treatment, and private schools aren’t required to adjust to her needs.

How about “Thank you for staying calm during such a stressful situation, thank goodness no one is hurt, should you see your doctor or take a couple of days off to recover?”

No, they lie to people who could probably breastfeed just fine and kill their milk supply so they have choice but to rely on the formula made with non-potable water. Bit of a difference.

No, they convinced a lot of people in areas without access to clean drinking water who were producing perfectly adequate breast milk that their babies needed formula to be healthy.

If you would care to explain how a company hoarding a thing people need to survive then selling it back to them at a massive profit ISN'T sociopathic, I'd be happy to have that discussion with you.

No, you. Pinkham was stating a simple fact. Corporations have one purpose: to make money. They're amoral. When they do nice things, it's for PR, which enhances profit.

Remember this is also the company that also went (goes?) into third world countries to sell infant formula to impoverished communities with poor/no access to potable drinking water to actually mix with the powder they were selling.

Good luck with your treatment. It took my brother ages to get fully over it. I wish they still offered the vaccine for people in affected areas.

I just responded to a similar comment, and while I place my faith in science, I also believe in what I can see, and I’ve seen more than my fair share of chronic Lyme cases (or what we’re referring to as chronic Lyme). Nobody can fake this crap, and nobody would WANT it. Maybe it’s something Lyme does to your system

Agreed. Should we really discuss a sick person in such a dismissive way just because we don’t like her? I don’t think that’s necessary at all. I love reading Jez and there’s something to be said for criticizing celebrities in certain situations, I suppose, but why are so many of these people put on a perma-hate list

This is true. I haven’t liked the tone of the articles about her (i.e. is the title of this one really necessary?). Lyme Disease is awful. I grew up in an area where it was prevalent, and we used to have to be checked for ticks whenever we went near the woods. I always thought it was annoying, until my best friend’s

I have a veterinary medical degree and live in Lyme disease central. Lyme disease is no joke.
