Details and context are just as woke as facts now, Swib

You know how society advances? By learning more and becoming more knowledgeable as a group. The problem the far-right have with that is that the better educated the masses are, the less malleable they become.

This is a supercharged gen 1 Mini. The convertible didn’t get a redesign for an extra couple years. Hardtops went turbo after 2006. R52 convertible production ended 2008 or 9. The supercharged engines were more reliable than the turbos that immediately followed them but they still weren’t particularly robust and were

My guess is it’s an Italian Job reference to when they drove the minis on the sidewalk during the heist

I don’t understand the Sidewalk edition. Is this one of those “drive on the parkway and park on the driveway” situations? Is it a reference to a concourse of sorts where fun convertibles may be displayed?

Is sidewalk a brand or something? Or just the equivalent of “LX” on Minis? Other than a more pleasant leather interior (I’m guessing the “Sidewalk” is for the piping?), I don’t really see anything that really looks to the tune of $4000, or worthy of doubling the price, as others have noted.

This is not that. This is still the first generation R52 chassis with the supercharged engine. Rob also clearly mentions that in the article.

Pre-refresh turbos had the most engine troubles. This is one of those. The timing chain tensioner, no matter how many times they “revised” it with a TSB, would back itself out of the engine block - and expose an oil channel behind it. You’d lose timing, and drain all of your oil, at the same time. The N18 in the 2011

This would be CP even if it didn’t have the N14 engine, and its notorious habit of losing its timing chain tensioner, along with all the oil, while driving.

I don’t follow the Mini market so I have no idea if that price is in line with reality, but it sure SEEMS like a lot for a nearly 20 year old car. So ND from me.

I was thinking $7,995 given the condition

I think they all had their fair share.

Mini just has too many special editions that it’s hard to treat one as any different than the other. Considering how cheap you can get these, it’s very very hard to justify paying basically new car MSRP after 20 years.

It’s too easy to find the same model with fewer miles for half the price. ND. This dude knows what he has, and definitely needs to keep it at that price.

I don’t know what goes wrong in these little BMWs as they age, but the buyer will find out. The mileage is almost too low.

If you can find the double meaning behind this =)

More importantly, you can get factory white wheels!!

Why must the Japanese keep putting fake hood scoops on their ‘off roaders’?

Looks like a good competitor to the severely overpriced 4 Runner.

Why would anyone choose this over a 4runner?
- Same mpg
- More expensive starting MSRP
- Same storage capacity
- Less ground clearance
- Worse approach/breakover/departure angles

Maybe because it will have a softer ride being unibody?
