Build an electric Model T and you could even make the hand crank functional, as a battery charger, and get the neighborhood kids to help you charge the battery that way!  As long as they thought this was fun,  it’d be like having free fuel.

Yes

Three things:

I think you missed a very important part of the sentence:

They’re taking out the engine, just making a fully contained electric powertrain that’s a drop in replacement. No destructive modification, the engine just gets stuck in a crate and can be easily reinstalled.

The conversions I’ve seen have all left a manual gearbox, but disconnected the clutch and the shifter and stuck it in 2/3/4 (depending on gearing, power, top speed desire, and transmission/axle robustness). I’d imagine that if you just wanted to be able to shift for the sake of shifting it wouldn’t be a problem.

There were 559,000 Mustangs built in 1965 alone. I think we can spare a couple.

I’ve actually been planning to do this to my Alfa Romeo GTV6 when the time comes. I was planning to leave the gearbox in and just gear down an electric motor so the output is roughly the same as the original engine, but that was just a hair-brained idea to keep my manual ‘box.

All that work and they use a label printer for the Ignition/Aux key position labels?

It was only a matter of time. In fact, I wish companies would make the classic bodies with modern technology. Better looking, more distinctive cars, with modern tech. Even using modern materials for the bodies. That would be nice.

Now there’s going to be Waymo complaints about terrible driving.

While I’m no fan of the Wrangler or FCA, it’s bullshit a car’s safety rating is downgraded because it doesn’t have automous systems. A vehicle is not inherently less safe due to a lack of driver aids. Why? Because people fucking ignore them. Just last night someone cut me off while I saw their mirror flashing with the

Chevy is already doubling down on the 2020 edition.

Canyoneroooooo

Clark Griswold called, he wanted to know if his truck is ready.

I see the truck team is competing with the Camaro team these days.

If the the styling ain’t baroque, don’t fix it.

I’ve always wanted a truck that looks like it was made out of three other trucks.

Bros want a bro truck...

Seriously. These things are getting big enough, the whole front should just tip forward like a commercial truck to allow access.
