People stepping up from an outback. if you want to pull a trailer but don’t want to go full 21st century minivan (pilot).

Hacura’s SH-AWD is ... unbelievably good.  I am no longer with MDX, and it had little soul, but that drivetrain was remarkable.  And I’m saying this as someone who reverted back to a full size 4WD pickup.

Well, if Land Rover can drop the Discovery 5 on us without irony, I guess Honda can duplicate the Discovery Sport and call it a Passport.

So... tell me:

I did some digging, if this uses the 245/50R20 fitment, even downsizing to 245/60R18 won’t get you access to the BFGoodrich T/A KO2. You can get Continental Terrain Contact A/Ts though. IF you want the big AT tires you’ll have to over size.

I’m not sure about 17inch, but 18 inch will clear those brakes (same as MDX, Ridgeline, Odyssey). If this uses the same tires as the pilot the equivalent size will be 245/60R18 which gets you access to some AT tires, but no T/A KO2 without oversizing.

The Ford Edge is too fordy. The Chevy Blazer is too scifi-vagina front. Nissan Murano is getting long in the tooth.

Come on guys, we knew that this wasn’t going to be a true competitor to the 4Runner or Wrangler. For what Honda had to work with this looks pretty damn good.

Now playing

Zap yourself. Car manufacturers aren’t idiots - they do know how to waterproof an electrical system.

If it doesn’t come with the option for wood trim, someone needs to make a decal kit for it, because that is just glorious in every way. As soon as I saw it, I swear I heard a choir of angels singing Foreigner’s 1984 hit I Want To Know What Love Is. It’s that good (and it looks like it’s from that era, which is not

Oh. My. God.

Maybe shop out the green.

I want the car in this picture and I want it exactly as you’ve rendered it.

I will say it’s nice to see that they aren’t doing all the crazy things that FF did or even Tesla did with the Model X. No silly complex doors “just because” or a full suite of self driving tech on car #1. Just the classic silly speed + a big ass battery targeting a market segment that is currently underserved. Could

Most “SUVs” are just minivans without sliding doors anyway.....

I like the way you think.

Father of 6 checking in...I had (maybe unrealistic) hopes that the tighter packaging of the motors would allow for 3 seats in the third row, like our Pilot. Same went for the Model X though. Is it because of the half shafts and articulation that they have to scrunch in the back?

There are a lot of clever touches on their vehicles too, especially the truck.  It has a good lift gate that should rival the complex pieces on GMC and Ford trucks, and the gear tunnel, where the doors also double as seats, is pretty cool.  I like the look the SUV, excepting the goofy-ass headlights.  I am tempted to

It definitely has a sort of retro-futuristic vibe to it. On the one hand the antithesis of Tesla with it’s straight lines and boxy shape. But on the other hand it’s definitely a very modern, distinctive vehicle.

Please be real please be real please be real. These Rivian vehicle renders do it for me. As I said with the truck yesterday, it’s like someone from 1988 was sketching what they’d think a car in 2020 would look like... AND I LOVE IT
