The culture is very similar if not worse in China. My best friend was born in China to wealthy Chinese parents, came to america as a kid and now goes back and forth for work.

While I’m not justifying his malfeasance - I’d also like to point out that some executives award themselves much higher bonuses while simultaneously running corporations that are going bankrupt - aka - the American way.

I leased a fully optioned 2016 i3 REx on an assumed BMW employee 24 month lease- at a whopping $105/month. My wife and I both loved it; it only visited the dealer once, and that was for its annual oil change If I could justify a fifth car in the garage I’d have a CPO i3 to use as my work commuter.

More likely than a sense of entitlement is a genuine (and either unintentional or, at least, common practice) blurring of the personal and professional, which, in turn, was used by individuals in the company to oust the outsider. If a non-Japanese person ever wonders what racism looks like, spend a few months or years

Superb article, Patrick. It should be published in Automotive News.

Generally, I agree with you, but the i3 isn’t your average hybrid given the electric range. Our i3 hasn’t used gas in 1.5 years, but has done a 1,500+ mile trip and emitted less CO2 than a Model S would have at 1/3 the price.

Same exclamation for both options, and at the time I type this the car is NP by a mere six votes.

I live in a large city and I own almost this exact version of the car. I bought mine used for 20k in 2016. You can “hack” the car to gain more fuel mileage with the Rex engine like the European models. I have almost 40k miles on my car and drive it daily. I admit the car is not for everyone, however for me it’s

Broward County might help locate some additional uncounted CP votes.

Don’t think I have seen one this close with so many votes.

I’ll never understand people’s aversion to EVs with respect to the occasional long trip. You can rent a car to drive to the beach that one week a year.  Not having to buy gas the rest of the year will more than cover it.

As an owner of two i3s, I voted cp for several reasons.

On the 2014 model it also could only use 1.9 gallons of its 2.4 gallon gas tank here in the U.S. due to some goofy regulations set by California’s Air Resources Board.

Why stop?  In the US those kinds of shenanigans can get you elected president.

If I needed a cheap-ish short-range car with some nice upgraded bits, I’d be sniffing around this. Plus, they can be “hacked” to use the full 2.4 gallons, for what that’s worth. Minor NP vote from me.

Wow.

The report does say "and other misconduct" so perhaps there was some embezzlement going on, or maybe he was just treating himself to extravagant vacations on the company dime.

Two parts, one is avoiding taxes and second is showing a lower income expected by Japanese culture. Japanese companies typically have low wages for CEOs and Chairmans, many make less than $1.1 Million, anything over has to be publicly reported with correct expense accounting. It is odd that he was arrested for it

So Ghosn has been accused of under-reporting his income to the Tokyo Stock Exchange securities so he could reduce his disclosed amount of compensation.

I’m over here waiting for the new z and this asshole is using company many for Eastern European hookers. Fuck him good for Nissan. I hope he gets the cell next to madoff
