The Fiat Multiplan would be a great car to drive. Range Rover like visibility high seating position.

I, for one, welcome our new Chinese automaker overlords.

ummm.. yeah about those BYD busses.

My guess is they have not upped their game on safety, because it is not important to the Chinese markets. When I visited recently it was hard to convince them that car seats for babies is a good idea, or covers for the 220V sockets, smoke detectors or not leaving pots of boiling water on the floor next to the baby....

BYD was first. They’ve been selling electric transit buses (built in California) since 2010 and the BYD e6 since 2012; although the e6 is marketed as a fleet taxi only.

They will need to familiarize themselves with a thing called a U.S. Design Patent. That or actually design their own cars.

Looks a lot longer that a 1st gen to me. They were very, very short.

Sarcasm... I get it...

The lack of a Veteran’s Day blowback is the final nail in the coffin in regards to any doubt I had about the inherent intellectual dishonesty of being a Trump supporter. His base willfully misinterpreted an NFL protest about police brutality and related socioeconomic issues so they could scream about disrespecting the

Checks out.

Foreign companies cannot drop tariffs. If you meant to say foreign countries, US automakers would still have to offer a product that foreign markets want. If tariffs are reduced and foreign sales of US cars don’t improve then what would have this accomplished except pissing off your trade partners and allies?

Tariffs on foreign (aka small and efficient) cars are a great way to stick it to people who live in cities. Cities are typically more liberal and tend to be where Trump gets the most flack, so I’m pretty sure he sees this as a win-win. And the American workers who actually get hurt by this? Well, fuck ‘em. Fox news

“US brand automakers do not export very many vehicles.”

This is grossly incorrect.

“If he finds some old law that says he can impose tariffs based on this or that, they can change the law.”

Yes, and if he does, all the foreign car manufacturers that have factories in the US will go to court and sue saying that they aren’t a national security threat. And there will be a court of appeals that will block the tariff  and kick it up the ladder.  It would be quicker to get a tariff through Congress than past

As it stands he can impose tariffs under the guide of national security.

Ironically, if it leads to something like the EU reducing tariffs in exchange for us dropping the Chicken Tax... it might turn out to be a good thing.
