I can’t think of another reason. Those cars had and mostly still have horrible diesel engine and pathetic attempts at petrol engine, the interiors were hopeless and the plastics in and out were of the lowest quality.

My brother had recently a similar CL500 and the ultra expensive suspension turned out to be two 200€ spheres to change which took a grand total of 3 hours including figuring out where they are and how to get to them. Never had an issue after that and drove it daily and far. over 20 000km in less than a year.

BMW e36, you could hide a lot of stuff inside the roll devices behind the back seat and if you add the hard top above them, they are almost innacessible and invisible. You just need the tool (provided with the car) to expand and retract the roll bars.
Not US, Switzerland. As it was a few years back, I honestly have no clue about the brand but since it has held up since then, I am quite pleased with it.
